COLLECTA 2017: WOODLANDS- Ivory-Billed Woodpecker (88802)

Dear friends and fellow collectors....

I have pleasure in announcing a new CollectA bird figurine representing North America which will be part of the CollectA Woodlands series. A woodpecker was long requested and so I persuaded CollectA to create this particular species. One that I have always found fascinating growing up and reading about in natural history books - when I was younger it was presumed extinct but it has recently been rediscovered! Why not go choose an elusive and intriguing species rather than a common woodpecker? I hope some of you at least will agree with the choice.

This particular pose was chosen by CollectA. Another new bird species never before made by any past or current brand. The photo shown is of the prototype so you will understand that there are subtle differences between a prototype which is highly detailed and the final plastic model. I have had no involvement in the sculpting of this model but I must say that in my opinion the sculpting standards have increased dramatically over the last few years - I am very pleased and hope you will be too.

Amazing! This looks like a resin piece. CollectA truly seems to shine with birds. No wonder they make such great dinosaurs.
