Made In ...

Thanks to Yvette, I was able to bring in a pretty big haul of retired figures. Several of them don't have any information regarding where they were made in. Is it safe to assume that they were just made in Germany back then?

I am very happy, that package is arrived after three weeks in Kentucky.

Which figures do you mean ?

The very old ones, like the first cat, goat, croc, hyena, boar, gorilla, ibex, cobra, and brown bull. I think everything is pre-2000, because the orangutans say 2002 and are made in Germany and China.

Old cat is making only in Germany.

Cat is marked: Schleich - W. Germany 1983
That means: Cat was made in West Germany (not in former DDR)
If you compare your cat with figures at website from Tiewe, you can see, there is only a "Made in Germany " model: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Ibex is marked: 95 Schleich Germany
That means: Ibex is made in Germany (after time of the reunification of Germany 1989/90)

Other example 13778 Ardenner horse:

Horse is marked: Schleich, Am Limes 69, D-73527, Schw. Gmünd, Made in China

That means: Company is Schleich. Perhaps figure is designed in Germany.
Am Limes 69, D-73527/ Schw. Gmünd is the address of company. - The figure is made in China and not in Germany.
But there is also a Made in Germany model available in the shops.
