The rocks are originally small bookshelves and were sold by Weltbild (a shop chain; I don't know if it is known outside Germany). They are ment to hang on a wall which was my original intention, but as I coudn't find a fitting place for them they were lying useless in their packages for some time.
Then one day the idea came to my mind to use them as rocks. I've turned them around so that the flat side lies on the ground so they make wonderful setting.

I've just seen the pics of your collection, Shardur (thanks to Sergey who gave me the link). I'm very glad to find another like-minded person in the way our collections are displayed zoogeographically! cheers cheers
The idea with deco stones is really very interesting and worth replicating.
