It means the walrus is also smaller than the Safari Ltd one

It is indeed small, but maybe it is a young male. Certainly no match for the other two beach masters!

Could you make a walk-around of the new papo walruss Susanne please ?

Papo ...I love the Company but...they make small animals BIG (like the impala) and big animals small (like this beautiful elephant seal)...what an oddity...anyway very good additions Susanne !

I feel very pleased while seeing this figure. Very harmonic and balanced. Consensual, perhaps! Very nice in fact. Well, nothing dramatic as we are used with Papo but surely something to give an extra touch in our collections. I love the figure.
I agree with Paolo, Papo is very inconsistent with the size of their figures. The problem is not how they look like when compared with Schleich but the way they look like when compared with other figures of the same brand/series.

I like it very much, it will be on my list probably. It is a bit too small comparing to other brands elephant seals but anyway it looks great and I love the details

Does anyone know what the species of this elephant seal? Southern (Mirounga leonina) or northern (Mirounga angustirostris)?

I think it is a Southern one, because of the huge nose...in my book about marine mammals it says it can even be infalted.

Well, the main problem for me is the Papo trump isn't very very big... For an elephant seal of course

As I have two elephant seals already: Mojo & Papo, I wondered what species the Papo was, as I already identified the Mojo with help from Rogerpvg as a Northern.

I also have two other elephant seals on my wishlist: The Bullyland (I'm not sure what species) and I gathered the Happy Kin figure was Southern due to the brand doing an Antarctic series with this figure included

About your question, I believe the Papo model is a Southern elephant seal but it is debatable. Please check both below and notice the difference of the length of the trunks.
Bullyland model is a Northern elephant seal.

It's impossible to draw a conclusion from random online images. There is no way to tell based on the morphology of the figure, so call it whichever you want.

The one from Schleich as shown in one of the images is a Northern Elephant Seal. You can see it because of its large trunk. Moreover the overall body shape is more equal and smooth. Next, you have the one from Papo, which is clearly a Southern Elephant Seal. It has a smaller trunk and its body around the head and shoulders is more massive, which is typical for this species. Southern ones have a stronger sexual dimorphism in body shape than the Northern ones.
