COLLECTA 2018: WILDLIFE - White-Tailed Deer (88832)

Here is a white-tailed deer model made by special request by some suppliers/dealers.  It is not a species I would have chosen in the first instance (you guys know how I think by now) but you got to keep suppliers, dealers and collector's happy right?

The antlers took a long time to get right - a number of photographs were studied and it was a nightmare given the variations out there depending on season, age of the animal etc.  However, I hope you all like this one.  It's been painted in the dark coat variation which I think is more realistic in comparison to other brighter coloured versions out there.  These days when it comes to sculpting it's just so important to get details right even if you have to keep going back to the drawing board again and again!  The size of the antlers on this are big but there ARE photos out there of specimens with huge or small antlers so why not go big? At least it is different to the smaller antlered versions out there so you could think of CollectA as helping to balance out the various sizes out there......

Anyway this is the last announcement for this week so nothing extremely unusual.  Final unusual hoofed animal next week - others are remakes or nothing unusual.  Enjoy!

The White-Tailed Deer is a medium sized deer, widely distributed in the east of the Rocky Mountains. The tail's underside is in white colour and -when rising- it's giving a warning that a possible predator has been detected.

Nice deer

That is nice buck with an unusually large rack compared to most models and.... It has the chinstrap! Yay! I only wish that it was a mule deer species instead, but this is a great model nonetheless.

So, at least two cervids in CollectA's new releases! Good year for them! I would also have preferred a Mule Deer, since almost every major brand has a White-tailed, whereas none of them is offering the former. I wonder if we'll ever get one...

But anyway, this white-tailed is very good. I think I'll replace the one I already have, since CollectA seems more realistic with that darker hair tinge... Antlers look really nice!

It is definitley one of the most common deer species in the toy range, but this one is definitley one of the best dou can find. I'm not really happy about the size, but maybe I'll find some space for him.

After all the antelopes and i love the collectA antelopes a lot, it looks like a year of deers!
... and i love deers too!

Beautiful deer collecta mastered to perfection has ungulates .Although I recently bought this deer from papo But I have to have it because it is excellent

But sad, that no Roe Deer. Every brand has whitetails now.

I can't share too much excitment with another white-tail. There are really lots of these figures now. It seems they sell well in US market. The figure looks correct but not totally convincent to me. I'd love a black-tailed deer instead, for instance but CollectA is giving us so many unusual creatures that we must be tolerant with the brand when a common species is released and not to behave as spoiled kids as I am just doing.

As someone who sees latge herds of whitetails every night by where I live, I can truly say that this model is the best one out there hands down. It beats all the other Whitetail models in the market. Very realistic, and definitely one I'll be buying!

I know I'm in the minority, but I'm actually glad this model is being made. A rarer species would've been better, yes, but I've been looking for a good white-tailed deer for a while and none presently on the market met my criteria. This one looks like a splendid job

Would have been cool if they had done a mule deer instead but this is a little different from the typical deer models- it looks like he has a winter coat!

This will be my White-tailed deer, it doesn't matter it is common or uncommon, this one is the one I was waiting for.

Some are nice of course like the Safari Ltd or the Papo but this one is breaking my heart!

Beautiful model! And I think the colour is perfectly matched, not too orange or red like in some other figures of this species.
