| Thanks for the info, Numaan! I hope CollectA is thinking about remaking their baboons in the future, since they look really obsolete. It's curious no big brand is offering any baboon species with modern standards, given how charismatic and well-known baboons are... |

| I am glad that topics about discontinued figures are not discontinued on forum. I love these lists. Let's start with prehistoric. Lots of retirements in a year CollectA rearranged their dino series. Surprising indeed the retirement of Bistahieversor, feathered T-rex and swimming spino. The first I can't find an explanation. It is an excellent small tyrannosaurid, as all T-rex like dinos, it is surely a best-seller. Maybe dealers don't like its name? The feathered T-rex is a risky figure. Traditional buyers are not like collectors, they take a long time to get used with something that they know for a long time in a certain way and suddenly they have the impact of a radical change. T-rexes are very important to the commercial health of a company and maybe this figure is not being well accepted. Though, the reason may be other, I've read about some important issues with the manufacturing quality of this particular figure. Spinosaurus swimming is another radical change that breaks with all archetypes. Tow/three at the same time are excessive and the sacrificed is the boldest. Wildlife: Hippo and zebra are being replaced so it is obvious. Gorilla baby is a prelude to the retirement of the adulte - the worst gorilla around - surely CollectA is working in a new one. Sometimes two are too many for figures hard to sell like: baboon, panda cub, koala, tiger cub, spoonbill. So why both mountain goats??? Well, to open place for a takin, I hope. |

| That is a lot of retirements, - but considering the big, wonderful flock that is comming, it isn't many Actually I have somtimes wondered how CollectA can keep expanding their range. The delightful booklet (consumers catalogue) gets thicker every year !! The Bistahieversor is indeed a very nice model, but the colours aren't very pleasing IMHO. That may mean a lot when children are shoppin, don't you think ? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

If you read the introductory text of the first post, you will understand it. |

Spinosaurus swimming - 88738 Feathered Tyranosaurus (deluxe 1:20) - 88717 Thanks for the list and the update. I agree that these three do seem like unusual choices. I thought that the Spinosaurus and the original feathered T-rex were some of their best models ever. The Bistahieversor does have a comparatively weak paint job, but I still consider it a good up-to-date sculpt. Some of the reason for getting rid of their T-rex may be due to scientific findings of crocodile-like skin on the face of one of its relatives, Daspletosaurus. However, it still could have easily supported feathers. |
