The Anaconda model was announced for a 2020 release and retiring in 2021. As far as I know, this model was never commercially released in shops, I'm not sure if it has ever been produced. I'm still clueless on this, a Papo mystery... --- |

| The marabou is the saddest of these retiring models since no other western brand have one in their current range :-( but I understand, many people complained about the stability problems of this figure so it's logic to retire it. Who knows, maybe Papo re-release a better model of it _________________ My collection:- (Details):

| Now I face the postponed dilemma of getting the marabou stork and Nile crocodile (I already have the Schleich's but this one has a je je sais quoi...)
And I shall get the dromedary calf this very afternoon :)
Thanks! |

| Even though it has stability issues it's the only one in existence in figure form so I'd get it _________________ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ADAM [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] "Our planet is in crisis. | Thanks [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for posting the list. It all makes sense to me. The anaconda was a failed project, it is obvious to me. I have a good number of those being retired, I will however think about the horned frog, I like it and I also like the frilled lizard but I have other alternatives. Those who didn’t get the marabou, better to find it now, we hardly will see a new model of it. |

| I didn't know about the stability problems. What are they? In my case it's jsut that I'm not totally convinced... |

--- Thanks for posting Kostas! the list is incredibly useful as it will enable everyone (including myself) to quickly order the models that we want/need before they start to become hard to find. I have spent three weeks trying to find that Alligator Snapping Turtle at a reasonable price (they are all above 40 euros on ebay). This retired at the end of 2019 and luckily found it on an online store in Finland (can send details if anyone wants the information). I realise now that I need to spread the costs of papo new releases and ensure I buy them the year they come out as the stress of trying to locate recently retired models is too much! Mind you , I am looking for the Papo Tiger Cubs 50183 and 50184 new with tags so if anyone spots them online at a good price please let me know! :-) |

In another message to me by my Papo Sales contact the Papo Anaconda's release was cancelled - it never took off. I presume it was a casualty of the pandemic....still, anyone with a model anywhere would be lucky to have it! :-) |

| At last they're retiring the baby Pachycephalosaurus, because there's no adult Pachycephalosaurus produced. |

| That was always a mystery to me, why they released a baby and not an adult _________________ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ADAM [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] "Our planet is in crisis. The "baby" is actually na adult Pachycephalosaurus. We still don't know exactly what a baby looked like. Nowadays, Dracorex and Stygimoloch are often considered as Young Pachycelphalosaurus. As far as marketing goes, the figure itself is roughly in scale for an adult compared to their other dinosaurs. The addition of "baby" always seemed odd anyways as it didnt appear juvenile like their triceratops or trex. It was likely retired because their newer stygimoloch fits that niche in the market and the pachy had a good long run. Scientifically speaking, the work behind that realization of all those headbutting species being different life stages is so interesting to me. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. Wasn’t it supposed to be a poseable figure? I haven’t seen a single one but if there are a few prototypes left, they will turn into very desirable collectibles. |

| I finally bought the marabou stork (together to the new pheasant, dromedary calf and, unexpectedly, the kingfisher). I add some clay and a twisted very heavy wire in the base. Now the base is like 5mm thicker, but the stork has the right pose and, giving the new balace due to the wire I don't think it will fall.
Thanks Spacelab for the info! |
