I like the idea - but it might be confusing to read, if there were lots of posts. On wikipedia (you have to be registered obviously) but anyone can add/change info posted by others, so maybe if someone posted history of a certain brand anyone could then just edit that post or add something?

Breyer also made some animals :) Probably too big for most people's collection, in terms of scale, but they do make smaller animals too :)

I agree if there are many posts then it would be confusing to read but if one member wrote about one brand, for instance if I wrote about Breyer, and Izzy had something else to add, then she could PM me and I could add it to the original post and put a note at the bottom to thank Izzy for her help and to acknowledge her contribution to the article.

Might be difficult to write about some brands as they have so many different names or information is scarce.

That is one thing that could be interesting, - that one product has many names, like CillectA thet is called Wpoxx and, I think other names.

Or Nayab, - I think we found 7 or 8 names for them a while ago.

I like the website of our Admin (and more (old) members). I pic of a animals sorted by the brands ( and the catalogue also sorted by the animals species). Under the pic any information like size/scale, year, material, species and variations..... and in the beginning the history and informations about the brand.
This are my imaginations, but i havent a knowlegde at the moment.


But this is not a lot of work-but a big big big big lot f work.

But i will attempt a contact with Kindertoyz- also for our wishes.

Your website is also a very very good example!!

This forum actually has a search engine along the top bar that has Home Calendar FAQ Search etc...

Click on it and a box opens up which you can put a search request into Like "photos" and it will give you 33 different threads with the word Photo in the title.

That's the problem though...The title of the thread has to be about what is in the thread...or you can't find it again.

So your idea Susanne sounds great to me, The STSencyclopedia of Brand Facts is a great idea too.

So many ideas and so little time...I've missed everyone and am happy to be back searching the forum again.

You are correct, OMO animals in Spain came free with a washing powder in 1960's. Unlike french OMO animals, spanish are painted. The complete colection (wich I have got) are 12 animals. I show you it pictures and another animals in next days.

In France they were indeed unpainted and in two different scales, but they were not flat like the margarine figures

Some brands are sold under different names, just think at the models from Nayab...
CollectA is sold under the name Epixx to in some countries.
And i saw more examples in the listing which came by here...

But i think it is a nice idea to make a special part in the forum, in which some of us introduce a brand with the complete history.
But we have to settle who does what, or otherwise we get lost.
I offer myself for Britains in the first place, and then we can go on for people who want to do more in this subject.
This means that you tell the complete story up to now, how a brand came up, under which name and factory, who founded the brand or the factory and what happened with the brand through the years and what they produced in all of those years.
It would be nice to show some examples if possible.
But please no throwing around of pictures from other members tin those treadso keep things clear and tidy...
I could imagine that two of our members could tell the complete story of the VEB Plaho for example...
