Collecta 2019: FARMLIFE - Sow (88863)

I've just got this good news from Collecta:

"And in our Farm Life collection two important animals were in need to be re-modelled. This week we are showing you our female pig, the sow. Colour and skin appearance with bristly hair all over the animal are much more realistic now with the new figurine. "

CollectA is taking this year to renew some models. It needed to be done once we often complained that many early figures were not up to current CollectA standards. Also, most of these have to sell well to suport less profitable models. I believe this one is a clear case of a model that is made excessively textured to be according what are the customers taste. If you make it textureless, it will look outdated. In my opinion it shouldn't be like that. In real some animals when represented in such small size, shouldn't be so heavily textured, it contributes to a more modern looking but maybe less realistic in some cases. I am not also particularly convinced with these forelegs, they do not look very natural but it may be the angle.

I agree, that this pig is too textured, - but here are long haired breed, like the Gloucestershire Old Spots.

But perhaps we should see it in real before judging

Would agree with Susanne-too much texture on this pig but may be better in real life so will wait to see.Other point is why just a generic 'white' pig again when there are other pig breeds out there e.g.Tamworth,Duroc,Large Black,Iberian,Poland China,Berkshire,GOS,Hampshire,British Saddleback and Pietrain.The Mangalitza was a wonderful model so this generic pig is a bit of a backward step in regards to pig breeds!
