New animal models by Geospiza fortis: Andean Bear

Wonderful creation! I am impatient to see it with colours!

Wow- it is just amazing, so professional- a masterpiece!
All the details of the fur, just incredible, and painted it will be outstanding!! I'd love to know if you have any tips for fur? You make it look so realistic! So excited to see what happens next!

I wish I was able to sculpt in a so realistic and amazing way! I fail getting the correct shapes and proportions of animals

@Bonnie I use a stainless steel carving set I got from Harbor Freight a few years ago, but any similar tools will work. I used a different tool than I normally do to make the coarse fur on this one. The key is a fine point and short, dense marks.

@SUSANNE That was the plan for the maned wolf, but with Safari coming out with one this year I decided against it.

Thanks, everyone! I am not making my animals to a specific scale, but this one is 2.25 inches high at the shoulder which I think would put it around 1/12.

I finished the sculpt and will begin molding soon. Here it is so far:

You managed to get perfectly the characteristic face shape of this species, different from all other bears! Bravo!

That is a true masterpiece- even in a photo, which usually ruins details, your texture still looks unbelievably amazing!

I am going to be making copies. Expect them to be available closer to summer.

I'm currently starting a Bison, but beyond that I have a few other species in mind. Possibly a sitatunga, bongo, or pronghorn. I want to focus more on animals that I have seen and photographed myself.

It's been a while, but I have some photos of a finished Andean Bear.

I have some other projects to finish before I'll have time to paint copies, so they won't be available until mid-October.
