SUY March 2020 - Cephalopoda : octopusses, squids etc

Roger gives me the okay for the new SUY.

My idea is : Cephalopoda

There are many nice and interesting speices in this old and large group. I really like these animals and i am fascinated about the intelligence.

So there are octopusses, squids, cuttlesfishes, belemites and many more

And there are also many and nice figurines- but we have no topic here :)

First up, prehistoric cephalopods. All of these are from various Kaiyodo Dinotales sets. I will eventually get the CollectA tube set as well:
1. Douvilleiceras sp.
2. Pachydiscus sp.
3. Polyptychoceras sp.
4. Rayonneceras sp.

Next squid and cuttlefish.
1. spear squid, Heterololigo bleekeri (adult and paralarva, both by Kaiyodo)
2. giant Australian cuttlefish, Sepia apama (Yowie Group)
3. butterfly bobtail squid, Sepiola birostrata (Kaiyodo)
4. Japanese flying squid, Todarodes pacificus (Kaiyodo)

Octopi, nautaloids, and the giant squid.

At the other hand, - perhaps he has tried it before , and - as we can see - survived

Ooh, this is a fun one! Most invertebrate groups get ignored by makers of prehistoric toys, but cephalopods are one of the least ignored.

Fair enough Andreas, I also am losing space for my figures so I don't know if I can increasing my collection at the rate I have been doing. Last year, nearly my entire wish list was moved into my collection!

Two species not shown in my earlier pic (shown by widukind, however). These are two venomous species in the genus Hapalochlaena: the greater blue-ringed octopus (H. lumulata) by K&M International and the blue-lined octopus, (H. fasciata) by Kaiyodo.
