My cephalopods. Note: I've photoshopped my eikoh octopus and favorite co reef squid as I forgot to include them and I wasn't willing to retake just for the 2 of them[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Found only in the sea. There are both pelagic (free-swimming) and benthic (bottom-dwelling) species. There are currently about 30,000 known extinct species and 1,000 living species today.

I am very happy about this topic! I am a big fan of this group of animals. I hope there are not too many pictures in my post. Therefore, instead of many words, I would just like to start with the octopods of my collection:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Now some comic-like figures.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

A fun fact by the way:
"Hank is an octopus. Actually, he’s a ‘septopus:’ he lost a tentacle — along with his sense of humor — somewhere along the way.  ...
The reason Hank only has seven tentacles is because his body and tentacle models were developed separately. When they tried to attach eight of them to his body, they found that only seven fit, so they simply left him with seven and just worked the missing limb into his backstory."
from: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

And a few plush versions.

The Decapodiformis:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

You can find such air-powered decorations made of polyresin in the aquarium accessories trade:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Here follow the extinct Cephalopoda:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And finally, some real-life beach finds:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And then I have some photos of live animals:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Find the squid:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Now it should be easier!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And finally the last picture (really). Now it becomes clear why cephalopods are called "blæksprutter" in Danish.

That is EXTREMELY useful!!!!!! Especially the brand names over the figures and the view from above of several figures allowing a perfect comparison of sizes without perspective! Many thanks for that!!!!!!!! Best post in this thread ever!

Thank you for the praise! But it's just a way to show figures. Maybe my photos are more "informal". But I also love the lovingly arranged pictures shown here !

Questions are always welcome. However, sometimes the answer can take a while. Embarassed

I will edit the pictures next week (I hope) and add the names where the species is known. I think "Octopus", "Squid" ... are trivial and not necessary.

Thank you for all the comments.

And here they are:
I have also added the scientific names, the series and the item number. I hope that the pictures have not become too confusing now.

I noticed a few more things during the revision:

Identification:
Sepiotheuthis lessoniana (DeAgostini):  same mold as Sepia apama (DeAgostini), too short and wide, should be slimmer
Sepiotheuthis lessoniana (Favorite)   :  looks totally different

Missing in TAI:

marked in the images (only the "good" one)

Incorrect in TAI:
  • Safari Reef Squid No 266229 in headline is correct, in table 266129
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Ammonite, brown: No 58400 in headline is correct, in table: 61400
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Ammonite, white, yello: No 58401 in headline is correct, in table: 61401
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
and also the Trilobite: No 58404 in headline is correct, in table: 61404
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • CollectA Pleuroceras: No 88902 is missing
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Opisthoteuthis california in TAI is Opisthoteuthis depressa (Booklet Colorata)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Yowies Serie 3 Blueringed-Octopus: Tag named it as Blue-Ringed Octopus/Hapalochaena fasciatus; but H. fasciatus = Blue-Lined Octopus
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Schleich Octopus: TAI named Giant Octopu (is correct), but you find it under Common Octopus (same Maia&Borges, Mojo because same mold))
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Schleich Mini Octopus 10095: in TTAI in company-sort, not in taxonomic sort
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

And this one is in TAI as Sthenoteuthis oualaniensis but I'm unable to see here any other species than Todarodes pacificus...
