Andreas, the tusk doesn't have moveable parts. I put a link to the auction I bought the gourami from in the 'Pictures for TAW' thread for you, I think you would like this model! Thank you :) |

| Just a few finds from a thrift shop in Daytona Beach and a small local one, not too much luck lately- though there's been little chance to thrift lately either. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The whale and weird things will stay. I already have the Dunkleosteous or it would be too. The hyena customization victim was in this batch too. |

| Is that a Schleich whale? Nice catch! The AAA lizard too. Congrats! _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | You're very good at thrifting. I think this kind of purchases are much closer to a genuine collecting spirit than buying in online shops. Though, we don't have all the same chances. |

I was just having this conversation with a collecting friend of mine. No harm in online shopping of course, that's all I have available to me really as well and the best way to find a lot of things I'd never see otherwise, but there really is something to the "hunt" (live or online, really) that adds a certain depth to collecting when you get the chance to pursue it. |

| If I only owned the models I'd found in charity shops (which I think are our nearest equivalent to US thrift stores) I'd have a grand total of zero Even buying new in shops, I've only ever found one place selling Breyers - which no longer has them cos the prices got too high - and three or four toy shops which had Schleich, though one of those has closed down now. All over an hour from where I live. And I've never seen Papo or CollectA or Safari in a shop. Which kind of explains why they're not really in charity shops later - if there isn't a local supply of new figures, nobody's donating them when they don't want them any more. People who are lucky enough find them in thrift shops, must live near where these things are sold in the first place |

| Sounds like it’s still a hunt, just an online one! And it definitely depends where you live and what sorts of second hand options you have whether or not it’s fun or even possible. Ours stink here. I had better options when I was a kid, with no money, ha! I love when I travel though and get a chance to look through antique malls and what not, even if I don’t find anything. The “seek” centers of the brain get activated, like giving enrichment to an animal. |

| Thanks everyone! It is a 2001 Schleich whale, another IC bullfrog, and old Schleich rhino. I guess I have a high prey drive lol. I just enjoy the hunt of hitting thrift stores and flea markets. Been rewarded enough to keep the impulse strong too. And in it I'm fortunate to be in an area with lots of families moving in and out, and visitors from all over the world who may lose or choose to leave something behind. Stopped at a store a few towns over, found these. Stormy the Breyer and the dog netsuke are staying with my mom, and the weird Empire bug with me. | It's a Terra by Battat, maybe supposed to be a Rocky Mountain? But they went too dark, it's black. |

| Has anyone gotten a set of small Japanese goldfish figures sold with a 'bowl' and gel water/plant from Yell? I thought when I saw an ad for them, they were Nayab figures, but the ranchu didn't look to be so I bought it. It isn't, and is perhaps a hair larger. (Need to get a pic with a Nayab goldie) Now I wonder about the rest of the set, of which I only see 2 on eBay. If they're Nayabs, I don't need them, but if they're unique... See, online is in a way even more of a hunt! At least a more directed one. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| The Battat horse is all yours, Taylor. Roger, the llama is a United Design Stone Critter, cast polystone figurine not a plastic toy. Sometimes the bags have odd things, |
