| It is really unbelievable that such small models can be so neatly painted in an industrial way That box makes all into a piece of art |

| Curious, they made into figure the interpretation of antique animal prints, that in some cases looks realistic and in others medieval-fantasy items _________________ My collection:- (Details):

| Indeed, I don't understand this set. Clearly, they aren't meant to be realistic fish figures, but what are they supposed to be? |

| Some are realistic, others not. As I said, they're supposed to be the transformation into figurine form of existing antique Japanese prints of animals made decades or centuries ago by artists of the time. You can see the prints that inspired the models in the last image of the tjjtjjtjja's message :) That's like, this is how dolphins looked like in the imagination of mankind at the medieval age: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]And this is a dolphin statue made in modern times for resemble these antique medieval prints, despite we all know now how the dolphins are really: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]So it's the same with the whale shark. From prints in the times where photography was not invented yet. _________________ My collection:- (Details):

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Yes, you are right. This set seems to be a little weird for individual species, and is somewhat different from the real animal. It is actually produced based on the 3D illustrations of the 18th and 19th century illustrated books. Because the painters at that time did not have enough knowledge of real animal, they were subjectively conjectured when depicting some species. By the way, this set was only sold in ENOSHIMA aquarium. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Kaiyodo already gave loads of realistic figures to this hobby. This is something different and cultural and scientifically interesting. A good idea in my opinion. |

| Ah, now I understand (I am a bit slow ). It's so much better with the illustration, because you can see how Kaiyodo tried to bring the illustration to life (or 3D). |
