Customized dog!

Hi!
Some months ago I bought the Safari's beagle model with the only intention of making it become like my real dog, Bruce. He is a beagle, but not the ones we are used to see more frequently in Spain, but more like a beagle Harrier, bigger, more robust and with a more "squared" shape.

This was not the photo I intented to show you, but due to the confinment I don't have the figure with me, so... here it goes,

As for me, I am waiting for the Schleich chihuahua which is going to be released in July.

I find it always wonderful when a collector includes miniatures of his pets in his collection.
I agree, it is exactly as Bruce with the correct markings! Could we know why you decided to call the dog Bruce, any known inspiration? It is also great to see you, here and in the other topic you posted pictures of yourself. By the way, the figure I know closer to a Harrier, is the Chap Mei you can see in this topic. The brand is often not taken seriously but I find it a nice figure.

He is called Bruce after the dog of a friend of mine, which was also called like that and died before (my) Bruce join us. I dont know the reason, good memories perhaps :)

The Chap Mei is great! However, Bruce do actually look like the Safari beagle. The thing is that most of the beagles in Spain are shorter and with a more sharp snout. I once was told that there are two branches of beagles, french and english. While the french are those I describe, the english seem to be more robust, like Bruce.

Interesting and thanks for all the information. So Bruce is a tribute name. I do think Safari model worked perfectly, I was only pointing the Chap Mei as a reference to Harriers. By the way, Safari dogs of the last years are really great figures!

Is he as enormously active as some of the smaller beagles are ?

The re-modelling of Bruce is really charming and nobody can be in doubt who it is

I forgot to mention that "Bruce" is the only dog in my collection and it is not with the rest of the models (all my collection is in my parents house in my home town, since in Madrid I live in a different rent house every yeat and I don't want to move all my figures so often). But Bruce is with me in Madrid, with a photo of him.

Yes! He is quite nervous. We live in a flat with views of a park and the cathedral and he loves to stand up and look trough the windows and bark to the other dogs or howl when te bells ring (like in this moment as I write).

It would take a lot of time if I was to customise and make all my pets (86 and counting)

Its interesting you should mention the difference in the Beagles in different countries.The English Beagles then to be quite small and quite chunky and I think this tends to be the Beagles used for show.Your Beagle looks a lot like the pet/working stock Beagles which tend to be larger.I have also met an Australian Beagle and again they apparently are larger and look a lot like yours!The other hounds that seem to have differences depending on what they do are Greyhounds and Whippets and Bassets

Oh I really love this custom! What a beautiful job you've done with this dog, and it looks so much like the breed. It's also an excellent likeness of your dog. Often it's much harder with our own pets as we know them so well and getting it to 'feel' like them is hard. You've done well.
