I've named most of mine too, at least my show string (that's pretty much a requirement). Not the OFs, though - those aren't really part of the collection *guilty look at three large bins full of horses*

I've got 80 horses and named them all :) I think it's easier to remember names if you've given them yourself. If I knew someone else with 80 Schleich horses I don't know if I'd be able to remember their names!

At the beggining all my horses had their own name, but at the end I didn´t use the names... I only remember a few, because they are like real horses I know and I gave them their names because of those real horses I remember my horse models by breed, coat and gender (for example, the chestnut quarter mare, or the sabino clydesdale mare xD... Only my Satchmo is named by his name) _________________ Visit my collection gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Visit my art gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I accept commissions!

Oh! Very nice! I give names to my figures too! I have a anteater called Sue Spoky, a puma called Titmalou, a Arizonasaurus called Lillesaurus and all the other are for example, a Dodo called dodobert, fox called Foxbert, a boar called Boarbert, an Andalusian horse called Prebert, etc. This is serious! Not wrong medication! So I know the name of all my figures!

| I was looking at my falabella foal and I noticed something: she has a number, like old models used to have. I tried to find the topic when we talk about those numbers but I can´t find it now xD Well, I have found this on my 2011 Schleich horses:
Falabella filly: she has a 4 inside her back left hoof. Falabella mare: has a 3 over her back left hoof, on the shank. Baroque Knabstrupper stallion: has a 1 inside his back left hock. Akhal Teke stallion: has a 2 inside his back left hock. APHA (American Pinto) mare: has a 2 inside her back right upper leg.
I haven´t find any other number in any other of my new models. Do your horses have the same number? _________________ Visit my collection gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Visit my art gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I accept commissions! |

My Fallabella mare has a 3 also, the pinto has a 1. The others don`t have a number All of mine are made in Germany. I don`t think we came to a conclusion about what the numbers are for, - probably for the different moulds? Edit : PS : I checked a few more. My Fallabella-stallions both have a 2 inside the left hindleg.

The only thing i can say about the numbers, is that they were used in the past to show the following order in which the models were made, so 1 before 2 and so on... I think Bullyland uses the same system...

Some time ago I talked with person who produced PVC elements and even toys here in Poland in times of communism. He knows a lot about production processes and he was so kind to tell me about it. I was quite curious and had many questions so I think we spent few hours talking about it. He talked also about these numbers. The small hidden number means how many parts were used to make full figurine. Usually it would be impossible to get animal out of the metal mold in one piece because of so many different angles on body shape. So shape must be divided for several parts and glued after taking from the mold. If the mold has number 1, that means it was only one element, and it wasn't glued, but I guess it is very rare situation, or You can try to find numbers 2 and 3 in different parts of the figure. They may also remove other numbers, later in production process. I think "1" may be possible in models of whales, seals and similar shaped. I also found this tiny one on my Dartmoor stallion, but I suppose there was also 2 or even 3, but were removed. Well, this is what I heard from old specialist but his knowledge may be not up to date. If You want to know when Your Schleich was produced look at the tiny circle next to Schleich's address (sometimes in other place), if You use optical glass, You may read which month it was produced

That is very interesting, Ana But I think your friend must be a little out of date Sorry The little circle is relatively new, - the last 2 or 3 years by Schleich. It is a common tool used for quality control. In that way it is easy to go back and see when a problem started. As far as I know Schleich never glued their figueres. Mr Schleich was a bit of a wizzard when it came to tools/moulds. But if you look at Papo, they have been using an awful lot of lgue on their earlier models Silvia ( I think it was Silvia) asked Schleich what the numbers meant, and they ansvered that they used the numbers to identify the moulds, as they have several moulds for each figuere, - or even moulds for making several identical figueres at a time in one mould. If there was a problem with a mould, the number tells them which mould is not working right, and they only need to concentrate on that one. Or that is how I heard it I have worked with quality control for 15 years, even was i Japan to study it, - and this does make sence.

If there was a problem with a mould, the number tells them which mould is not working right, and they only need to concentrate on that one. I remember that now, I wish I could find that topic we had _________________ Harriet My *Collection* My *Handmade Animal Sculpture*
