| I love these stablemates- what an impressive collection! The foals are lovely, such interesting poses and so dainty altogether! And the running horses are lovely too, so elegant and flowing! |

| An update with three more Stablemates. Not new sculpts; I just bought them because I like their colours. First, a beautiful Valegro. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]It’s from the new Mystery Horse Surprise series and I was surprised that I could already find it in the UK. It is very similar in colour to the original Valegro (from 2016), which was modelled after Valegro, the Olympic champion. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I am very fond of this model: modelled after a famous horse, interesting pose, not too wild, not too glossy, my favourite bay colour and the right size (shoulder height about 5.1/163 cm and the real Valegro was 164 cm). It’s perfect! It looks much better than the “Dapples and Dots” Valegro. The bay colour makes the detailed sculpting of the muscles really clear, it’s one of the very best Stablemates in this respect. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I also got another “Arabian rearing”. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I already had a white-grey Arabian, but it’s a bit pale, so I am happy to have one in a different colour. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And finally, another “Rearing Andalusian”. This bay blanket colour version is from 2010-2012. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]What is my excuse for another one? Well, uhh, my G1 standing foal needed a parent, and this one is perfect. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The rearing Andalusian and Arabian sculpts are quite similar, but I prefer the Andalusian, I think it has a more interesting pose. | Three nice arrivals, the new Valegro is my favourite and looks very good in that colour, I think you're right that he's best in darker paintjobs as it flatters the sculpt a lot more. I can't help noticing how tiny his front foot is, though, something went a bit weird in translating that from the original clay sculpt to the plastic mould |

| Arabian horses rearing look like seahorses. Those are all very beautiful figures and I agree about Valegro. Some sculpts are so good that they work better with a solid color. |

| Good choices! I agree, that Valegro is really nice, he has nice subtle tonal changes in his coat so it's not just a solid flat brown. The rearing additions are also lovely, especially the appaloosa. He looks like he is about to give that little foal a surprise from behind. |

STS has been a little glitchy for me, too, lately. I couldn't see the images at first and then they came back later. |

Yes, I suppose the hooves should be a bit wider than the legs. Valegro has very thin legs (even for a Breyer), something I like because it looks more realistic. |

| What a wonderful collection. My favourites are the Fell Pony (be nice to see them in white, like the photo just released of HM the Queen), the scratching foal and the wood grain Clydesdale and the version with long hair. |

Yes, I suppose the hooves should be a bit wider than the legs. Valegro has very thin legs (even for a Breyer), something I like because it looks more realistic. They weren't originally quite so tiny - if you look at the Breyer catalogue photo for the first release, here, you can see the front hooves are more in proportion with the hinds. But somewhere between this and the production line, the front feet shrank! You can also see how the painter put sharp-edged sock markings for the prototype, then when the actual models were sold, they had airbrushed unmasked edges, much like this more recent release you've shown above - this is one thing which really annoys me in catalogue/promotional photos, as I think it's misleading and dishonest to show a better paintjob than we'll receive. - thebritfarmer wrote:

That was a lovely birthday photograph, and yes, the Breyer Fell would look great in the colour - they did a portrait of one of the Queen's plain black ponies already, so whether that makes it more or less likely they'd repeat the idea and ask for permission to make another one, I don't know! |

| A few more… No new sculpts for my collection, but it’s OK to get more of the same sculpts when they aren’t too expensive, isn’t it? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]First, another Silky Sullivan: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]A bit similar to one of my other Silky Sullivans, but not quite the same: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And another Paso Fino: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I only had one other Paso Fino and the new one is more interesting in my opinion. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Of course, the cow girl adds interest to the chestnut Paso Fino. The Paso Fino belonged to the same horse and foal set as the lying foal: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]A great pair! I like the lying foal even though I think its left front leg is a bit too long, as long as many of the adult horses. Or perhaps the foal isn’t quite to scale and the leg is in the right proportion to the rest of the body, but the foal should be smaller. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Another Prancing Morgan. I think this one is a bit redundant in my collection. It’s only an average model and this is my 5th Prancing Morgan. At some point, I think I’ll filter out the least interesting Stablemates, but this time hasn’t quite come yet. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Another one I thought would be redundant is my 8th! Appaloosa. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]But I always like the Appaloosas, no matter how many I have. This one has a slightly metallic shine on the sorrel patches, and I like it. It isn’t the usual paint, it is as if they have put a coat of metal on it (it’s slightly thicker). [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Also a Standing Thoroughbred. Perhaps not the most exciting sculpt, but it’s only my second, so it’s OK to get another one, isn’t it? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The one I already had has a more beautiful colour though: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Finally, my favourite of this lot, a dun Highland Pony. Lovely colour and sculpt. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here she is with my other Highland Pony. Also dun, but a different kind of dun. If they look so good, it’s OK to have more than one dun of the same sculpt isn’t it? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

I'd say it's perfectly ok, I mean... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] A lovely selection there, I think I like the Highland best, that's my favourite of all the colours they've made that in. Closely followed by the Appaloosa done as a Paint instead, he's got nice markings (they don't often do ones with less colour than white, so they're very striking when they happen. It's such a nice multi-purpose mould that, makes a good Quarter Horse in solid colours too.

| Love these additions. Beautiful Silky Sullivan, and I really like the morgan even if it is a possible cut from the line in the future. He's pretty flashy, but not garishly so. The metallic paint is a very pretty example of the use of that sort of color. I guess that's considered a splash paint, I love that unique pattern! And definitely, any member of a mold you find appealing is worth adding, you can never have too many of a thing if you enjoy each of the things. :) Your highland ponies are both really nice examples of such different duns! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], what an amazing army of dun ponies. |

| Thank you all. I thought I was in the right place here to get approval for some more . Your dun Highland conga is fantastic, George. Great idea to paint all possible duns. I didn't know there were so many! You are right Jill, there is nothing wrong with the Morgan at all. But I may need to start thinking how I can avoid collecting everything . |
