Recently acquired in a cheap lot and had these two unusual birds. My guess is a spoonbill and marabou stork. Enjoy the pictures. I am not a Hong Kong collector, but I haven’t seen these before. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

If you are not terribly interested in these figures, you could trade the Common Shelduck and Leptoptilos sp. stork to me. I specialize in obscure figures of obscure species! I might repaint the stork as a Lesser Adjutant.

| They look Rena/Bisco/Azur birds, could they be too from Injecta Plastic (Macau)?..

Some birds look like Azur ones but differently painted (such painting scheme is usual for U.S. market) but the two last figures on the pic1 and pic2 (hen and guineafowl) are heavily inspired by Fontanini. Are you sure these birds are from Hong Kong?

If the one in the bottom right of the photo is a guineafowl, I’d take that too.

I think they are Hong Kong because the only mark on them is HK on the bottom

Ohhhh! That would be a terrible thing to do In my opinion repainting really rare models should be heavily punished ! Something like : No icecream for all of next summer ...or is that TOO cruel ? |

Right. I kind of already considered leaving it as it is anyway.

It’s just not a good representation of a marabou.

Perhaps not, but I agree with Susanne and one should get these figures for their historical value. And although they aren't 100% realistic, they are beautiful in their own way. If one merely wanted a realistic figure, then there are other figures.

There are no figures of adjutant storks that I know of. Of course, I could just modify a larger, more realistic marabou, like one of the Noah’s Pals or Papo ones.

Suzanne and Roger, You do not need to worry, I feel the same way, the original painting is beautiful and I am highly against repainting old figures. The history is what’s make them so unique. If my figures ever leave my collection, they go to where they are respected and adored.

Really interesting, especially the paintwork. Is it repainted?
