| Thanks my friends, as always! A farm photoshoot would not be a farm photo shoot without a farm dog right? The Papo Aussie is presented, as my grandfather always had a collie or aussie (not 100% purebred but close enough) at his side when he milked his herd. May he rest in peace with his farm friends in farm heaven. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]_________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | This gorgeous Papo Aussie looks right at home here! I love this model, some versions aren't painted that well but the sculpt is beautiful! I love the last photo with that wonderful view of the farm behind him! |

| Thank you Bonnie and Roger! My grandfather had many farm dogs through the years but the last one, named Dip (because he liked to go jump in the ditch water for the cows and swim), was one of the best dogs I have ever met. As the story goes, when my mother would call my grandmother to tell her we were coming to visit soon, Dip would then get up (retired from his farm duties by then) and walk out to the dirt road and wait for us to come, even if we didn't arrive for a few days. He was a kind, gentle, soulful dog. I used to call him Dipdip when I was very young. | Dogs are indeed exceptional for the love and care they show to our person, our individuality.
MoustiK actually knows my name "Benjamin" and when I come back home, my mother always tells him that "Benjamin" is coming so that he can sit at the top of the stairs and wait for me. He also reacts to the word "copain" which means friend, buddy, and that he only associates to me. But he also wait for me at the top of the stairs when my mom makes him listen to my voice on the phone, which is kind of sad because I'm not actually coming, he just believes I'm very close since he can hear my voice.
He also can recognize when my grandmother rings and won't bark.

| Thanks Andreas and Ben!
No insult to cat enthusiasts, but I have always connected more to dogs. And for the little things like you describe with MoustiK, dogs are really just something special. All dogs are great in their own way but every once in a while a truly special one comes along and is just a truly wonderful animal! I could share stories for days about my canine friends... _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | I love your story of Dip, he was so adorable and I love that the Papo Aussie brings him back a little bit. I think it’s just another reason we continue to collect after childhood these figures hold pieces of our lives and our experiences like tiny displayable memories. |

| Ohh wow Dip is the sweetest and what a wonderful story showing just how amazing and intelligent dogs are! I always believe that they understand far more than we think- and Dip shows it perfectly, I've always found that farm dogs/ herding breeds like him have this whole new level of intuitive intelligence- probably necessary to be able to keep a farm of animals safe and under control! Such an amazing story about Moustik too, such a clever dog and very sweet that he recognises those words- dogs are so clever at picking up these things! It reminds me of a scientific study done by Dr Rupert Sheldrake when dogs would move to wait at the door at the moment their owners decided to return home, even if they were miles away. He couldn't find a conclusion as to why this was, but was forced to say that it must be something to do with telepathy/ dogs being so in tune with their owners! |

| Dip was wonderful- he looks and sounds just like any real Aussie! Our Pepper when I was a kid had that same bulldog Quarter Horse build. The senior pic makes me think of one I have of senior Doomer with his young niece Mick.
I have the lovely Papo Aussie too, it's a must have for me. Got 2 so I could customize one, though it didn't happen. It's one of my things that hasn't turned up since my last move. |

| Thanks everyone! Dogs are amazing is all I can say. Thanks especially Kelly! I expect that Dip was not purebred. My grandparents lived in an area that is very rural and the farm culture of the area is such that someone says "I need a new dog" and they are directed to another farmer who had a litter of pups with whatever they had on hand or even an accidental litter from a roaming casanova... The most common breeds at the time were herding and hunting dogs like border collies, australian shepherds, labs, pointers etc. So whatever Dip was, purebred or not, he was simply a great dog. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. Cats' supporters can say what they want, a feline does not do that. Sorry but I disagree, my sister has more than 10 cats and none of them barks when her grandmother rings. |

| I think Dip was probably more a real Aussie than the poufballs trotting around the show rings nowadays. Historically, the breed was a type not a 'pedigree' and what you describe is what they were. |

| Yes, I wish they were still a type instead of a bloodline. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Thank you everyone. It was one of my earliest holy grails and it is truly a great model from Schleich's golden age. Finally got a little something done... my goldfish display is finally up! Hangs above my farmlife/domestics book case. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]_________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Thank you everyone! Here is an old Schleich holstein cow. This model is a bit special as it reminds me of one my grandfather had that us kids would feed all the time.
