| There is a long, detailed discussion on this species by halichoeres on the DTF, including what's good and what's wrong with each. Of this trio, Safari is by far the more accurate of the three, but probably lags behind the figure from Favorite in terms of modern concepts of what the species should look like. |

| Accurate or not , - GREAT comparison !!!! I only have the one from Safari and love it very much ! It was a gift, and when I got it ( before STS introduced "dinos" for me), I had no idea what it was As far as I remember I was thinking it was some sort of fantasy model The other two are beautyful also ( If you can calll a monster beautyful ) Perhaps I like the one from Mojo best of the two, but as far as I understand it, there were several species of these scary fishes . It could be fun if PNSO made one also |

| Fantastic comparison topic. I am also not an expert but in a mere sense of attractiveness, my preference goes to Mojo Fun model. Though, all models have very appealing designs and it is great to see a fish that is not a shark, having some protagonism. I also like the way they play together. - SUSANNE wrote:

It could be fun if PNSO made one also Yes, this community has much more to tell than accuracy. I remember that episode with more than 10 years and I even found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] where I confirmed it was from Mihnea. It was fun seeing your joy with a bizarre prehistoric animal, something more related with Mihnea collecting tastes and his joy with an Icelandic horse, something that is much more your cup of tea. |

| WOW ! Roger, you found that old topic The strange thing is, it seems like yesterday, or like 100 years So much has happened during those 10+ years, but I also remember it clearly !!! I was so absorbed by the fish, that I almost forgot the wonderful, little pigeon , and was so ashamed that Mihnea had to ask, before I showed it also Actualally that crowned pigeon is also among my most cherished models Fortunately we see Mihnea here now and then, so at least we know "our little boy" has grown up, with beard and all |

Blaine, would you have the favorite one to show it to us?.. No I only have Safari because it is still very good (only the tail is outdated, and even then I believe it is conceptual based on a related fish) and I am content with it. I see no need to replace the Safari figure. |

| Excellent topic! I have the schleich and safari and like both well enough. Thanks for showing these! _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Wonderful topic Alain ! Thank you ! I am not expert and I like all 3 models . The colours of the Safari one is beautiful. But like Roger, my favorite is the Mojo one and it is the only model in my collection. It has so wonderful skin details. Love it`s sculpt :) |

| Thank you Kosta! Like you I am not a specialist and if I had to choose, it would be hard because each model seems interesting but it's above all, the comparison between the 3 (and others I don't have!) that is fruitful: Safari and Schleich's ones show their shield but their shape is quite different, Mojo's one si covered with skin, why not?.. Then, the skin rendition, none with scales but different renditions.. the fins, "radiata" for Safari and Mojo, "pennata"for Schleich.. and to end, what with the colours? Are the wonderful scarab colours renditions of the Schleich's one, appropriate for sea life? I think that comparison between some models oblige to keep a more curious and critical mind, watching at each try of reconstitution and that's why this topic seems very interesting to me, above all about disapeared species.. :) |
