Prior Tropical Fish-Set came in for May 2011...

Last week i had a group of freshwater- (aquarium-) fish coming in.
It was sold to me as Elastolins, but i was pretty sure they weren't that.
But because this group included some aquariumfish, which is my other big hobby as most of you know around here, i still went for the fish.
Finally at my home, i discovered, that they were made by Prior from Hong Kong in the 1970's.
It is not always easy to make fish-species very accurate, specially not in this size, but the most are quit ok for me... :)

Here they are, first the corallfish:

Blue Striped Snapper (Lutjanus kasmira)

Pajama- or Spotted Cardinalfish (Sphaeramia nematoptera)

Two Banded Anemonefish (Amphiprion bicinctus)

A Botia species, very hard to tell which species, it is a kind of roach, and very populair fish in our fishtanks (Botia sp.?).
Maybe it is the Spotted Weather Botia...

Black Pearlfish (Cynolebias nigripinnis), a little season-fish from Argentina.

Pearl Gourami (Trichogaster leeri), a very populair labyrinth(a secundary breathing device) fish for our fishtanks.

Hoplo Catfish (Hoplosterum punctatus), a smaller catfish from the Amazone region.

Cherrybarb (Puntius titteya), a little colorfull barb from S.E.Asia.

They are very nice judging by their size and time of production!Great catch!

If they are really rare i don't know, but i saw them only once before i think.
But that doesn't matter, having aquariumfish in my collection is a must for me as the fishman around here, together with Phil...

Great set, I love the hoplo, one of my favorite catfish.

Just for your info, the "loach" is actually an electric catfish from the Nile river and most of central africa and the black pearlfish is no longer Cynolebias but now is Simpsonichthys.

And some species are hard to recognise in those models, because the makers use a lot of fantasy in them sometimes...

Congratulation Willy, I used to play with those fish in the 70's, So happy to know some are living in a good place in Zwolle now
