| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] to notice: "made in P. R. C. (Portugal?) According to me, a good model whith accurate morphology but a little too thick legs, a little too weak dewlap and the hooves would have been better grey. So my note is 7/10 :)

| Thank you Paige :) here comparison picture with a fight bull from Spain ( DeQUEBE brand) which shows rather well the morphological differences: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Camargue bull is more little, heavier and dangerously more agile! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Some are used for "camarguaise race" in "arènes" and become true "stars" until, too old to run, they leave their pastures no more and die pacefuly. Some celebrities have been statufied! :)

| Although I collect cattle breeds I am unsure I'll get this one. If for no other reason, the fighting and racing animals just don't appeal to me. |

| At the contrary, I prefer to collect cattle breeds living during all the year outside in pastures, a little like their ancessors Bos primigenius, than catlle breeds reared for their meat or their milk (whose price is the slaugther of calves) fort they are closer to wild animals I usually collect.

| I really wanted to see this walk around. It was a wise decision from Papo. A figure that can sell easily as a fighting bull but that is not and the morphological differences are obvious as you opportunely pointed. A french breed, I like this tradition of Papo releasing national breeds. Made in P.R.C. means People's Republic of China, a nice abreviation to avoid the word China that is often connected with poor quality among customers. I believe a few Papo models are still made in Portugal. Let's see if any of these releases are really made in Maia & Borges factory. Does anyone checked the goose? |

| Inded it looks like a very fine healthy Camargue bull. Papo has succeeded in highlighting the specific traits of this species which should not be confused with the Spanish Toros. It is the only European breed that is still considered wild and it perfectly evokes this region of France so exotic and bearer of dreams. We'll have to find a place for one somewhere in my house. |

| Many thanks to you three Constantin, Bonnie and Christophe! Camargue bull seems far less known out of France than camargue horse who lives with him in the same pastures and often in mixt herds and which is used by the gardians (camargue cowboys) to drive him when necessary! I would like a lot other half-wild cattles were produiced like Maremme cattle from Toscana , the high grey cattle from Hungary or Maronesa one from Portugal but I am glad this camargue one is now joining Highland cattle, spanish fight bull, texan longhorns and Watusi cattle already available! :) here with a resin souvenir model (whose head is a little too small!) and with the old little Starlux one: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Wonderful trio! I surely would love a Maronesa but my dream was a very close related breed called Barrosã.
By the way, Toy Animal Wiki tells us that Percheron is the most common of the French horse breeds in toy shape, Camargue is close but second in this ranking. The absolute winner is the Arabian horse. About dogs it is more controversial, Poodle (Caniche) could easily be the most replicated French dog breed but it is apparently a German breed. thus, French Bulldog takes the cake. The world top goes to the German Shepherd. Cattle, here's subject, it is much easier once Charolais is clearly the most represented French breed on TAW. The absolute winner is the Holstein Cattle from The Netherlands.
Donkeys have Poitous and Provence in a similar level , all other animals are often no breed identified. |

Do you know that Maronesa cattle would be the breed geneticaly closest from Bos primigenius? :) I think I've read it before when we were talking about the several projects to make a breed as close as possible to the aurochs. Apparently Portugal has the cattle closest to aurochs and the horse closest to Tarpan. |

| Oh! very very interesting! So zebra comes from zebro this striped horse! I had missed this beautiful walkaround by Susane because I don't collect domestic animals but I am going to run to the Schleich sellers very soon! I saw reconstitued tarpans in zoo and they also have this dorsal line, these stripes and this mane which doesn't look at all, to the Prejwalski one! Big thanks for the link Rogério! :) |

| Alain, revisiting this topic, I noticed you're giving a score of 7/10 to this model. I enjoy scores. I hope you will do it more often. By the way, this Camargue is still missing on TAW as [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] pointed. Is there any chance that you provide a picture of it? - spacelab wrote:
