| Here are Safari's new releases! They were listed on their website this morning. As of right now I don't know when they will be coming out, so I'm not sure whether they should be labeled as 2024 or 2025 rereleases. I would think 2024 since that is the year they are announced in. Anyways here they are! | This is called a "teddy bear" cut; its a very popular hair cut style for this breed. They opted for a modern take on this little guy, I see nothing wrong with that. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. Indeed, this figure has a high "cuteness factor" and is likely very popular with children. The model for this "Pomeranian" might be Boo, the Pomeranian whit hair cut "teddy bear", who was very famous on the internet and even had his own Facebook page. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]A Zwergspitz / Pomeranian or other Spitz dogs should not be shaved for health reasons. This can have very negative effects on the coat and the overall health of this wonderful breed. The Pomeranian and other Spitz breeds are among those where shaving can have catastrophic effects on the coat, potentially leading to permanent damage. Spitz-type dogs have coats consisting of an undercoat and outer guard hairs. The undercoat grows faster than the guard hairs; it is much softer and fluffier and grows more quickly. Especially with Pomeranians, if they are shaved very short, down to the undercoat, the undercoat can become so dense that the slower-growing guard hairs become stunted. Therefore, Spitz dogs should never be shaved, as it negates the protective function of the coat. Shaving always results in a coat being reduced to just a few millimeters, destroying the guard hairs and their protective function for the sensitive skin with its essential functions. The undercoat alone cannot perform this function and becomes saturated with moisture when wet, remaining damp. Moisture accumulates on the skin, creating a breeding ground for parasites and skin diseases. Thermoregulation is disrupted after shaving. Additionally, shaving can harm the sensitive dog skin, as aggressive sunlight can lead to skin damage. For Spitz with a dense undercoat, shaving can lead to "post-clipping alopecia" (permanent bald spots), which completely inhibits hair regrowth since the hair follicle does not renew itself due to the shaving of dead hair, rather than being brushed or trimmed out. The Safari Zwergspitz or perhaps "Boo-dog" may be cute, but a typical Zwergspitz representative ? - I don´t know. _________________ Yvette

| These new and old red foxes are from different area or subspecies? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Jolie just posted that the new red fox is a kit, meaning a juvenile. But red foxes are the widest distributed canid species in the world (after dogs), so there are tons of local types and varieties around the globe, but not usually any real "subspecies". _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Added official stock images to the beginning of this topic! I'm extremely excited for these new releases. Safari is my favorite brand and makes up over half my collection. I've been wanting an osprey for years from Safari and now I'll have one! Bearded vultures are my favorite bird after the harpy eagle, now I'll have both from Safari! The male lion is a nice surprise, I'll gladly add it to my collection along with my other Safari lions. The fox kit will go nicely with the adult. The mahi-mahi is exciting! I love IC figures and my father and grandpa used to catch them down in Florida during vacation. I don't really collect Safari dinosaurs but they look very nice this year _________________ Jolie

| I won't spend too much money on Safari Ltd this year, probably the Austroraptor because it is so weird, surely the Mahi-Mahi and probably too the birds even if have the Schleich and Bullyland ones. I hoped the young lion would be a cave lion but no... Too bad |

| Shane on Dinosaur Toy Forum said that the majority of these would be released before the end of 2024, with the remaining releasing early 2025. Exciting! _________________ Jolie

| Thanks Jolie for presenting these better pictures to us. Interesting fox kit design with long delicate legs and less hairy tail, a sort of fox foal. I like it. It's different from all other red fox figures we have seen and it probably means they will not discontinue their good red fox. I like the birds too, good choices. I have the Bullyland bearded vulture and the Schleich osrey so I don't know if I will go for them but I confess I like a lot the bearded vulture. |

You're welcome! Yes I'm excited to get the fox kit too. I have the old Schleich osprey and the Bullyland bearded vulture. I like the Bullyland one a lot but the Schleich one never looked a lot like an osprey to me, I think this Safari one is a nice improvement. I will definitely do comparisons when I get the Safari figures _________________ Jolie
