| I ask me, what is the collectors fun? The hunting to a animal and the moment if you become this animal or every day see the animal and you touch this or so?
I think i like the moment if i become this and the hunt before. |

| For me the funs of being a collector are ; 1 .while receiving new packages 2. Shopping exclusively for my collection , when I am on touring abroad , seeing the displayed animals in the hobby shops sitting for hours together with them in the shop 3. feeling the texture and sculpt details of every figurine , observing them closely , enjoy viewing the animals in all possible different angles 4. comparing a particular model with the real animal 5. taking snaps , including the pics. for my data and sharing the pics. with you all lovely people 6. showing my visitors, friends , well wishers and relatives , the beauty of my menagerie 7. Displaying the animals in my vitrines , living with them all my life |

| I love everything about it. Only not selling. I HATE selling !!! So I have a lot of doubles...fortunately I can call a lot of them "Variations " Of course this does not apply if I know my darlings go to one of you, my dear fellow-collectors When I get a parcel with several models, I always fool myself and am sure I will only take one or two out each day, to get maximum enjoyment out of each one - but suddenly, after 5 minutes, they all stand on my desk That is SO wonderful... - and taking pictures for my site and to show to y`all . I always discover something new when I look at the photoes I have taken. I also like to make new displays, - if only I did not have to pack the present ones down to make room for the new ones And the hunt for a speial model. My heart beats faster if I find the one I have been looking for( I am sure that if I find the brown Bullyland French bulldog, I will faint ) ...if it is an auction, it is almost impossible to bear the last minutes, - will some *beep* bid higher than me ? At those moments I understand people who are addicted to gambling, even if I never was interested in gambling !!!!! But most of all, - I am so happy with my hobby, because I met YOU _________________ SUSANNE |

| The whole reason I started to collect figures was because I saw how realistic the animals were and it was like having my own little zoo! I get so excited seeing all the new species the brands create. Its always the most fun receiving new figures and sharing it with everyone here on STS! _________________ Kelsey "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~Anatole France |

| I recently fell prey to selling almost all of my collection and it was VERY stressful and not fun at all. I can't say I have full regrets because there for awhile I was collecting almost anything and everything, having the "gotta have 'em all!" mentality. And I had a ton of animals that didn't fit into my collection at all. The selling spree left me feeling burnt out on the hobby and I wasn't sure I wanted to collect anything at all. But time heals all and now I am enjoying collecting again. :) I will not go that selling out route again. I think long and hard about the figures I add to my collection these days. I have to love them because I am NOT going down that road again. -Kristie |

| i love so many aspects of the animal figure collecting hobby. 1. first of all, having and holding and looking at all those coveted and beautiful figures is very satisfying. 2. the hunt for them, especially finding them in the most unexpected of places, and at very reasonable prices. 3. ive always loved animal figures since childhood so having so many choices and better quality ones today are great. 4. like some of you, i also hate selling, so i prefer to trade. meeting fair and reasonable trade partners is an added bonus in the hobby. 5. meeting great folks in STS (and other related toy forums) and being able to talk about them and show off pics of my collection. |

| As Kid it was the fun to hunt the unknown Entering a shop and seeing species of animal. No Internet, not knowing wich animals the different brands have in their range. So to many of my figures I have a really "hunting-story" and it are these I love the most cause it was so difficult to get them. Now it´s different. You have internet, each year you know the new releases. But the hunting is the sam, even if there isn´t any more this surprising effect. But STS changed this - now you see so many unknown figures and it´s excititing to find them. And the moment when you receive a package |

| I love to fall in love for a new toy. You believe you know your taste and suddenly an unexpected model catch your eyes and mind. Something you even didn't imagine... I have this joy the old BULLYLAND Dark brown cave bear this year, it is fantastic. then the way you are building your collection change.
I love to share my collection and ideas with other collectors, I'm sure my collection would be very different without the web and STS.
I love working on my display, thinking about the way I will show and live with my animals. It is at least as important as collecting, maybe even more.
Sometimes, I let some models leaving, I can give, trade or sale doubles or not doubles. I think I am building a collection more than collecting and I absolutely don't want to collect everything from every company. I like to choose. |

| On my first year like toy collector I though: only wild life schleich animals, I bought a lot of them, a Gascher's catalogue and I fall in love with horses. Well, only horses and wild life. I won an auction on EBay 100 new animals for my collection. Into the box a beautiful dog. Well only dogs, horses and wild life. Now I collect all schleich, dinos and wild life from collecta, prehistoric animals, and now I'm starting with Papo. I love the hunt to get new animals in my collection, I love the auction for a rare specimen. I have four rooms for my treasures. I spend a lot of money every year. I like to gift some rare animals to my friends or trade it and I love this forum because I ve learned a lot Sorry with my bad English _________________ Encontraremos un camino...... y si no lo crearemos

| I agree that finding new brands is a lot of fun! For a long time, my local stores only sold Safari and Schleich, so that was what I bought. It wasn't until I decided to research online that I found there were many, many other brands! And I remember the excitement I felt when I found a local store that sells Papo, too I love unwrapping the packages of my new animals. Unwrapping is half the fun of collecting |

| As I am not a pure collector I love lots of things: - I love when I visit my 7 years old niece and bring some figures of my collection and she wants to know everything about the animals and some little things to identify them. - I also love, to sit on the floor with her and play gently with our figures. - I also enjoy when a figure is made in an educational way and can give us some knowledge and admiration for those who made htem. - I enjoy to receive packages too! - I have a huge pleasure when I can find something that my niece or some of my STS friends is searching and have the chance of giving this little pleasure to them. - I adore also when someone find something for me! - I like when I find a figure that I don't need and can't find in a owner for him, to keep it with me and give to a random children. - I get shocked anytime I receive a figure that is fruit of the huge talent of STS members. - I need and it is important for me to have my STS friends to discuss about the figures and Wild Life in general. - I love to know that with a single click on my not rodent mouse I can go to a place where I meet my STS friends. |

| Thats a hard question, but here are my best answers: -I love waiting for, and of course unwrapping, a long awaited package. -I love to find treasures in the oddest places, in thrift stores, garage sales, etc. -I love when my neices and nephews come to visit and watching their priceless faces as they pick up and look at some of my new figures and they say "I don't think I've seen this one before... what is it?" - I love when I go to visit my neices and nephews houses, sitting down with them in their rooms and watching them show me THEIR new animals, then I feel content knowing that I infected them with the collecting bug too. -I like seeing the artistry with any figure, even if it may not be the most accurate or beautiful model. -Lastly, I love to give and find so many treasures with my friends here. especially when I feel like we have helped each other. So, those are my many answers, pick any one you want. |
