| Beautiful weird creatures Susanne, just fantastic I especially love these prehistoric horses I wish some modern brands would make prehistoric horses, showing evolution of this animal from the earliest forms. |

You are so right, beautyful and weird describes them very well Yes, why don`t some of the brands make a series called "The evolution of the horse" ??????? Bullyland could do it. Their horses are not vey good, but thir Museum line is.... ... or CollectA ? I am not sure it is Deborah McDermott`s cup of tea, but if they can find her, they may find somebody else who knows prehistoric figures as well as good design If somebody made a really good job, it could certainly be a bestseller |

- Pithécantrope - Java man
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Which is Pithecantropus in international naming... The Paleotherium had no little trunk is thought to be nowerdays, as his nosebridge could not support this, so he was more horselooking, and thought to be more related to horses, than the tapirlike family. The Bullyland model is thought to be an Anchitherium, a side-branch of the horse -family, so not a real ancestor of the modern Equus horses. The Eohippus name is still widely used, but the correct name should be Hyracotherium now. The Baluchitherium should be called Paraceratherium these days, at it is the oldest name for this biggest mammal that ever lived on the face of the earth, another synonym is the name Indricotherium. The oldest name of the genus is always the one that should be used under normal circumstances, specially when it is a species that is alone, or the first known species of a genera. Later discovered animals, extinct or not, can be added to this genus, and they can take them out again, when they think, it belongs to a different genus, but the oldest and first one and his name always stays. I think the rest is answered by Christophe. _________________ http://www.collectorsquest.com/collector/1313/willybacoman

| nice figurines .. Does they have the same height as Plaho? Do you sell some of it ? - SUSANNE wrote:
- Recently I have been fortunate go get a small lot of prehistoric mammals, dinoes and such .
Now I have to get them on my homesite, but I have a problem with the names of some of them. Perhaps you can help me ? Christophe was so kind as to send me a link to a catalogue, but they are not all there, and some of the names are very difficult to read (For me, at least, I AM terribly nearsighted)
So corrections and suggestions are most welcome
Palaeotherium [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
eohippus - the prehis. horse from Bullyland for comparison. I think he is a later species, the Starlux has toes, the Bullyland has hooves: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Baluchitherium (1973) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Ichthyosaur and diplocaulus [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
pterodactylus [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
endothiodon [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Deinotherium: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I wonder if this hunter is a neanderthaler or just a rather funny cave man it is a JAVA MAN "pithecantropus erectus" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
A colour variant of the stegosaurus. My new one is less glossy and I wonder if it was made later than the first one ? The one on the left is the oldest one [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Protoceratops and triceratops [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
tanystropheus [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
tyranusaurus and iguanodon : IGUANODON and ANATOSAURUS [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Diplodocus and ???? Brontosaurus [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
A cute little green guy dancing in high heels, - I wonder what kind of critter he is Saltoposuchus [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Ohhhh, these two don`t belong here, but I just have to show them, - I got them together with the donkey Homo sapiens agricolum and Salers cow [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

Thanks, Torsten Yes, I think they are about the size of the usual Plaho...but smaller than the Plaho-diones. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I don`t have Plaho dinoes, but I suppose the Marolins are the same size ? No, I don`t sell, I just got them and hope to be able to get some more in the future |
