| Cool! I love the Dimetrodon and Elasmosaurus!
I'm not up on Apatosaurus anatomy. Is current thinking that their necks were shaped like that, sort of smooshed triangle in cross-section? It looks very odd to me, but i have no idea. i'm trying to figure out what movement range would go with a shape like that and I'm' stumped. Can any of our dino expert help me out by explaining the shape of the neck? Other than the neck, which confuses me, it's a great looking dino! _________________ carolynn

| Congratulation Ken, I love those SAFARI ltd, the apatosaurus is a real piece of art and it's incredible to see a company making an inostrancevia. That's what I like with SAFARI ltd, they are bold enough to produce such unusual species |

Are you talking about the curve of the neck or the shape of the section ? Nobody knows exactly how was the flesh on an apatosaurus neck but this model is the most serious on the market. I made a review about it a few months ago, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]We have a big discussion about this model [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Here is my thought then - Kikimalou wrote:
- So, I will speak first about the apatosaurus. You have this year two models of apatosaurus. One from Safari and one from Schleich.
You can see the Safari because I made a review about him and you have the new Schleich.
So here is the apatosaurus skeletal. I will show two models because in the 2000's the thought about the apatosaurus were like this :

But nowadays, it seems the apatosaurus was more like that :

A few years ago Kinto favorite, a japanese company made this model :

And in 2010 Safari ltd makes this :

And Schleich made that :

Now look at the shape, the size of the tail, the neck. The Kinto looks like the first skeletal and the Safari like the second one. And the Schleich looks like...
Now look at the feet, the Kinto and the Safari are both like the skeletal. Now look at the Schleich one :

Isn't it funny ?

Thanks Chris! I actually went over your site & take a look before I buy the apatosaurus, inostrancevia & Dimetrodon. And now I would drop or reduce some farm animals. |

| Christophe, thank you for the information. it was the cross section shape that's puzzling me..the wide flat bottom side of the neck. The way they've done the neck skin like it's loose, i imagine him swelling up his chest and neck like the world's biggest bullfrog and letting out a roar that can be heard on saturn! what great image! _________________ carolynn

| The Inostrancevia, would be a nice idea! But my head is still more in the dimetrodon! I must ask my edaphosaurus what he thinks of it! Still in my mind the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Even considering the fantastic explanations of Kiki, I am also not seeing a very credible neck in Safari figure, I must give some right to our Sheep-girl! :) Ken, all of them are very nice, congratulations! :) :) |
