Thanks for the compliment, but Willy found it, I just made it find its way to Mihnea.

I bought the new ostrich from Schleich a couple of months ago,and completely forgot to mention it here!The pose looks very good!
Sadly its wingspan was so wide I couldn't fit it in my vitrine. :)

I also find it one of the most fantastic animals, Schleich has made !

Maybe y´all already discussed this, but the old ones come with both two and three toes (on each foot), - the one with 3 has a dark and a light version...

Wow, that one looks handsome. I went to a shop that sells Schleich products the other day and for some reason started looking at all the wild life figures on the shelf. They all looked so beautiful I thought I wanna start collecting the Wild Life too but I restrained myself cos I'm still a not-working student who has only one room to spare for her collection (plus a few other things I might possibly need, like my bed for example). But I felt much better when I got home and looked at the gorgeous horse collection I already have, after all horses are the most beautiful animals on the planet, in my opinion. Besides I'm gonna get a wonderful addition soon... :)

For almost 25 years I rode at least one Icey in the nature every day .
The one from Safari maybe looks more impressive, but ths one is the old fashioned type that will carry you over hills and rivers, through moors and in trafic.

They say in Iceland that if the owner gets too drunk to find his way home, the little, strong and intelligent horse will take him home and make sure he does not falls off on the way

In the old days when food was scarce in winter in Iceland, the HORSES ( thanks : : ) would go out to the ocean and eat seaweed. One more reason the smaller ones were the most popular ones. They have a very long appendix, which means they can digest almost any plant matter.
Also they grow very slowly and should not be used for riding untill they are 4 years old. They are first fully grown at the age of app 6 years, but then many are fit and happy till 25 or 30 years old
