| Months ago I started making sketches of siamang (Symphalangus syndactylus) with the aim of making a model. I asked some of the forum members about the size and posture, and after receiving some answers I decided on working on 1:23 scale (the same I have used in another models). I leave on working on the siamang until last week. Now I have a prototype, but I think it's too little to making some details (specially eyes), but at the same time it's beautiful because beeing so small it has detail enough to seen it as well done (sorry, it's difficult to explain what I fell about the figure in English ) Also could be very difficult to making a mould, specially for fingers and toes, that are really thin. here you have some pictures of the prototype. I have not a good macro on the camera and i'm not a good photographer but that pictures is all i can show you The figure is about 6'5 cm between hands and the same size from upper hand to foot. Has a mistake on sculpting that is the "turn" of the left forearm that I will correct on the final model. I will appreciate all comments and tips about scale and moulding. friends of STS, what do you think about it??? | Fantastic work Joan, I would not have even noticed the arm twist in the wrong position if you had not said anything. I love the pose and the posture of the male calling, it is beautifully done. I was just doing sketches of a pair or even a pair with a baby for my Indian diorama earlier this week, you must have heard my thoughts! |

| AWESOME model, Joan, WOW Gosh, how did you make such a tiny model with so much detail ? Perhaps this is a good example why most modern brands don`t make " in scale" It would be too little for smaller children, - but a gem for collectors Good luck with the work |

Thank you Ana. I hope next month I will begin to work with the definetive model. I must be specially accurate on the face. And about molding process... that will be really difficult!!! Maybe I will make any test with the prototype.

Hey Joan, of course, a douc will be difficult, but Rhinopithecus roxellana is waiting,.... You seem to be a talented monkey-sculptor and i think many persons wuld be interested in those two species. And for the sumatran male: You're right, I'd be so happy with a male. and maybe someday, there's a calf,... |
