2019 prototype spider Mojo Fun

Hello dear STS members,

Hope you all are doing well!

So today I made my usual Instagram round and got very surprised by the image of a tarantula!
(At least, I think it is a tarantula XD)
It was posted on the Taiwan distributor Mojo Fun page and is a very trustworthy page.
I contacted Chris and I got confirmation it is a new 2019 animal!

However! The paint job may change, so it can be a different species later on.
Mojo Fun will announce this spider officially later this year, when the spider is done and they have the official photos.
But I got a yes, to share this little news to the STS community <3 :3



Don't know how big it is, nor the species (as it may change with the new paint job) or when it will be officially announced.

Nice! It would be Mojo's first arthropod so it means I'll finally have a Mojo figure LOL. The current paint job is for the species Mexican red-kneed tarantula (Brachypelma smithi), so I am sure that is what it will be! This species is commonly made but it will be nice to have one from a new company.

Very excited to see this brand expand their range, even if it's not something I collect. Thanks for sharing it here!

We have a bombastic news even if it is just a common species of tarantula. Here is Mojö expanding their range to new terrains. As it is a prototype, I'd suggest Mojö to make a Brachypelma hamorii , it is almost identical with very subtle differences that are not easy to determine but that could turn it into a unique piece and maybe a lesson regarding these two similar looking species. ... or which exact species have been made before by other brands?

I am OK with a commonly made species. I actually like seeing how different companies present the same species, to see the differences in style and quality. I like seeing the comparisons.
Where I start to get bored or frustrated is when the same company makes the same species without much improvement (the Japanese companies are notorious for that)

I was pleased with Mojo's 2018 releases (they even released one of the nicest horses I have seen, one I would get if I were a generalist) so I am happy to see them making something in my focus group.

I surely agree and obviously it is not a problem that the first Mojö spider is a relatively common species. I also agree that new Mojö horses have a superior quality, mainly when compared with some very toyish releases of some other similar brands.
What about our use of Brachypelma smithi to identify all other orange-knee tarantulas? and about suggesting Mojö to make a Brachypelma hamorii instead?
