That is the species that throws eggs against a stone to crack it... I LOVE mongoose, - or I think I do, I have never met one When I was a child my dad used to read Kiplings stories loud for me, - that was HEAVEN, because my dad was the old fashioned kind, who was convinced that children were the concern of women So Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was MY HERO PS : Now I just googled the story, and to my surprise I see that the story is not fit for children, - so much for my dad as a paedagog PPS : Gosh, you got up early today, Willy, - 4.45 !!!! |

Thank you for the replies, everyone! I found some of the other animals from the series listed on ebay (Not my country, though..) but none of the meerkats I guess I'll keep looking. Thanks, Widukind! I'm actually gonna PM you a question, soon. And I remember Rikki-Tikki-Tavi! I saw the cartoon movie when I was little. :) It was adorable (Except the cobras)

I also loved that frisky mongoose! I have read the book a few years ago. My favourite story was the one with seals and Steller's sea cows.

The model is made like a meercat(standing upright with their little paws on their belly), which is part of the big mongoose family of course. In that time, most people didn't knew the difference between meercats and mongoose...

I do have several models of the pangolin, they are mostly made in Hong Kong in the 1970's, but no known maker. I can't see the other 2 figurines properly. The swordfish and the tuna are made by Marx USA in the 1950's. :) I do have the shark from that series. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]These are the complete series [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]But there are copies to, mostly more painted [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
