Why do you think Schleich would make a new family of african and asian elephants but no a different species of animals? The competition is going to get steep with all those wonderful animals from Collecta(which by the way are almost all on my wishlist)! I think Schleich's figures seem to be getting a little more cheaper.... . I would love to see more species of animals for them to produce instead of the same traditional animals. Does anyone know the difference between the elephants of 2012? Are they bigger? There postitions dont look that much different to me than the original ones. Thanks! :) _________________ Kelsey [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~Anatole France

Maybe they're just upgrading them instead of just retiring them and forgeting about them?

Yeah! That makes sense. They still should vary their selection though. Thanks _________________ Kelsey [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~Anatole France

I was just searching online, *thank you Google!* And the 2012 elephants look greyer and the ones they just retired look kinda brown.

I think they are going in the direction of the elves, warriors and such...the animals they make are for children, not collectors. And horse-loving girls, - they think/hope that all the girls that grew up with SCHLEICHHORSES ( in one word) will stay loyal and pass their love on to the next generation. And we must admit that they have an enormously well developed net of distribution. F.Instance here in Denmark you can get 3 brands : Schleich, Schleich and Schleich I am convinced that they will live very well with that strategy, - and we collectors san take it or leave it Very few children or gift-buying parents/grandparents have ever heard about CollectA or Mojo...and see how some of us still wringle their noses at Papo`s horses and Bullyland in general. Safari, - who can buy Safari at a local shop her in Europe ? Schleich knows what they are doing, I am sure

Why? Because they sell better than unusual species! The most important toys shop in Portugal selected from Schleich wild life 2012 figures the folloing ones: Asian elephants, African elephants and giant panda! Isn't it interesting? Exactly species that were only updated. Will CollectA Portuguese distributor pick the Braaman cattle? No, because Frisian sells better! That's the reason why I'm always saying that some brands are being very brave making so many new species and we, collectors, the most interested in them, should recognise it! The magnificent eland from CollectA or the perfect Mojo Iberian lynx will sell better than the Schleich elephants? No, not only because Schleich has a huge distribution because that's the way market works. CollectA and Mojo elephants will sell better than any of the antelopes or any other unusual species from these brands! Schleich should balance some unusual species with some best sellers because money is not everything and sometimes brands are victims of your success.
