| My collection of models from Clairet is small, and there are no rare or valuable items, but I love each little figurine. So please allow me to show you. Perhaps somebody can tell a little about them ? Also if they are not what the sellers have told me that they are. Some are marked F. Clairet, and some have no marking, so I have had to trust the sellers...but some of the unmarked ones I got suspiciously cheap First the charming lions [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Baboons [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]A Zebu ( I think ) and a gnu [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The ostriches from Starlux and Clairet, - clairet to the right . [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Brown bears from Starlux and Clairet, - Clairet to the right [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Monkeys in trees, - from Starlux and Clairet, - Clairet to the left. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The Clairet tree has some broken branches, but the monkeys are just SO cute [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Cangoos from Starlux and Clairet, - Clairet to the right. The seals are not marked, and at least the darkest one must have had a ball on the nose, - from the Circus-Series. Are they also leopards ? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]That`s all folks

| Some great figures there. I like the monkeys a lot, they look more like chimpanzees I think. _________________ Tim :) ToyAnimal.info - The Toy Animal Collecting Wiki Animoblog Animobil.info Playmobil Animals

| Congratulations Susanne for such nice vintage figures! Thanks for showing them with Starlux, I enjoy it. They surely also go nice with Britains. :) The monkeys are chimps, the seals are sea lions and surely the last ones are leopards. The one with large spots could be what you want! A jagpard, maybe! The gnu looks blue but I can be wrong! I absolutly love them! |

Congratulation for your CLAIRET collection. I'm 6 years old each time I look at them I remember playing "Tarzan or Mowgli" with those animals. They were not mine but I had an older cousin who had them and let me play with This company was a post WW2 French brand who made Toy soldiers, indians, cowboys, knights, farm and zoo animals. The first models were hollow-cast lead and very very very rare, I haven't any, and later hard plastic. The models were sculpted by François Clairet and have a special touch, a bit art deco I believe this company disappeared in the 1960's when STARLUX became as present in French shops as maybe SCHLEICH is present now Little is known about the company because catalogues, number of products, etc are unknown too In the 1950's CLAIRET models were copied byt the US MARX company and the UK WENDAL The main problem with the CLAIRET is disease Some models are sick, they host a bacteria which eat them and tranform the plastic back to petrol. The models have white shades on them and sometimes suppurate oil. This is a contagious disease which can spread among other CLAIRET or Hardplastic models like STARLUX. The only thing to do is to put the suspect in a never ending quarantine. Fortunately, a lot of CLAIRET are still safe I posted a few pics of CLAIRET production HERE

| Thankyou VERY, VERY much for your help, Christophe ! Both about the background and the identification of the models . AND for telling about the "disease" !!!! I think I have one of those, - it is sort of gray and full of cracks Fortunately he was standing among the Starlux in the vitrine, - now I have moved him to another place, - I hope he hasn`t infected the Clairets |

| S, thanks for thinking of me with the lions in different positions : ) K, I thought you were joking around about the figures being contagious, but that sounds like no joke! Thanks for letting us know that there can be problems with some brands! |

| Last week I got a few more Clairet-figures It was a little exiting, because nobody else bid on the little lot, so it was possible that it was just junk. There WAS some junk, but also some nice models, - like a little kangu from Hauser Elastolin. And camel, - I think it ids from Clairet. here with the dromedary from Starlux [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]A Barbarian sheep, I think, - compared to the larger one from Starlux : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]AND my first variations Tigers [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Two of our ancestors [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]A darker Kangoo [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]A liighter Zebu [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]All small things, but cute, I think |
