| Thanks Adam, Bonnie and Taylor :) - Bonnie wrote:

I think, that the Fennec is not a very realistic and perfect figure I have the CollectA in my collection, which I prefer over the Safari one. But I think, that the Safari Fennec will enter my collection as Rüppell's fox, Blanford's fox or pale fox. But I have to check which species it could really be :) - Advicot wrote:

I hope this summer. I will move to my own appartment in a few weeks, where I hope to display my collection. However I still don´t know how, so I´m still searching for ideas. For now, my collection is in boxes and I can just present you the newcomers - that are a lot animals since I´m a member of this forum ^^ |

Interesting, yes I'd probably have to see them up closer to decide but from your photo the Fennec looks very nice! But yes, the CollectA is beautiful! |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I can remember those times, too. But I needed my parents to buy models and at that time, I chosed other figures instead of the Golden Eagle. But I never thought, that the Schleiche one would be until today on of the best figures of this species^^ [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Thanks :) [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] As I mentioned, I have not 100 % access to all my figures. They arrive, I do photos for STS and then they go into the boxes in my appartment...waiting to be released again^^ But I can tell you, that the Eikoh Crested Ibis don´t fit with the Safari and CollectA Spoonbills at all. Eikoh is way to small compared to modern brands. You can see it already on TAW when you look at the pictures with the lego block. @Update Another parcel from Christophe arrived My first Yujin and a playvision Thank you very much! | Many great additions! I agree, golden eagles are so iconic birds, I don't know why they are not more common in toy shape and this beautiful animal surely deserves better representatives. |

| It´s been a while, so here a small update. I bought two more recent Schleich figures. As I already told you, my collection could be on a turning point. As species collector, I once collected one figure per species. The "classic" toy animal figures were represented by my childhood figures - due of lack of money, sentimental feelings an memories and space. But we are getting more and more figures that look su much more accourate than 10 - 30 years ago. So with years like this, were there aren´t much interesting species for me, I will fill the gaps or replace some old models with newer ones. The Schleich Gorilla is one of those figures. After reading [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] wonderful comparison topic about the Gorilla models and which subspecies they could present, I had to buy the Schleich Gorilla. We are often blaming Schleich for their choises or representation styles - but this figure is magnificent! Such a beautiful and it will later be joined by the new CollectA! The warthog wasn´t a figure a considered to buy, as I don´t like how the theets are presented. However, Schleich is promoting the figure as desert warthog (Phacochoerus aethiopicus) on their website. So, a new species for me. I don´t know if there are big differences on desert and common warthoges, but the identification by Schleich was enough for me (We are definitely not speaking about a presentation mistake as with the king/emperor penguin by the same company). | Congrats! I think the warthog turned out very nice after all, and the gorilla is handsome. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | I hsare your feelings about the gorilla, I almost ignored it. thanks to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and Benjamin too, I ended acquiring this model and I love it in all its splendour. Surely we need more topics like this one of the gorillas Benjamin offered to us. Why not one about the warthogs? I really am not convinced with that model but I am sure if someone convince me it is a desert warthog, I won't hesitate. Wikipedia has a very good description but I can't make a good judgement just based on it. Wikipedia reads: "Desert warthogs can be differentiated from the common warthog by their distinctive facial features, including curled back tips at the end of the ears, lack of incisors, and generally larger snout. The suborbital areas in desert warthogs are swollen in the form of pouches that often extend to the base of the genal warts; these same areas in common warthogs have no such pronounced swelling. The species also has more strongly hook-shaped "warts", a more egg-shaped head, thickened zygomatic arches, and enlarged sphenoidal pits. " |

| Thank you everybody :)
The warthog looks better than expected, but I have high hopes for the Mojo :) Thanks for the informations. Looking on the description, it´s rather possible that we have here a common warthog. But nevertheless, Schleich called it Desert Warthog - why? Most people (like me before I saw the discussion) don´t know, that there are 2 species. Why choosing such a surprising identification? Just to please collectors? For exemple for the vulture, there were also discussions that it could be another species...but they call it griffon vulture. So why doing something different with this warthog? But yes, maybe someone will same day do a comparison like for the Gorilla :) Those are the topics, that help me at the moment the most (next please something about Orang-Utans ^^) |

| He dit it again! Our forum friend [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] sold me some more figures and most of them were on my wishlist :) I´m so glad I got once again this opportunity! First, some more fishes, mostly from PV and K&M [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Beautiful mix with birds, insects, amphibians and reptiles [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And last but not least, some extinct animals. Yes, I don´t really collect prehistoric animals, mostly due to prices and space problems. I have some dinosaurs, but mostly Made in HongKong. But watching all those wonderful newcomers from Safari, PNSO, CollectA, etc. make me really wish, that I could have some of those in my collection. So, I chose for myself another solution: small sized prehistoric figures from toobs for exemple. They´are not to compare with the amazing standard sizes, but I really like them. I will only add when I get opportunities like those and I really know, that my focus will stay with wildlife, but this forum really makes addictive^^ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| REALLY great new additions! Not to snub the usually amazing and gorgeous PVs etc., but the safari toob prehistorics in my opinion are a must have too regardless of size!
