| Well, today I got a great surprise in the mail, I have hinted about this pair and they are finally here!!! I asked a new sculptor to make me a pair of fighting male zebras, and today they showed up, I couldn't wait to open the box and get some photos. Here they are, I took a lot of pictures for you Kiki, but I am only showing the best ones. This sculptor is not a collector so he doesn't keep or collect animal figures, still as with all artists he did great as you will see in some of the photos, they are an almost perfect match for the Schleich herd that I have. The painting is much more detailed and the faces are a little more ass like rather then horse like compared to the Schleich figures but they are so close he could have used the Schleich male as a model to guide him! | Thanks everyone, I am really glad you like them, a few months ago I was in a mood and I have 2 other fighting male pairs of different animals that are done or almost finished that will be shown here soon. Our own Anna and Harriet are just finishing up a pair each but I'll let them post the first photos when they are ready to be shown. - SyLoBe wrote:

I am not a fan of the real fur tails either, but it is how the artists does them. I can always change the tail to a standard clay at some point. One thing about them is the flash reflects off of the fibers, when looking at them in life they are a much better match then the photos. EDIT: I am adding this because as I re-read this it may seem like I am not happy with the fur tails, this is not at all the case, to me this pair is such a fantastic edition to my diorama I love them, they are in line with every figure Anna and Harriet have done for me and I have no plans to change the tails to clay, it is just something that could be done if I felt they needed it to be changed. As they stand now with all of my custom figures they are perfect in the pose and scale and I am so happy to add them to my diorama collection. - ana wrote:
- Great zebras Phil! Congratulations!
I truly love the idea of fighting zebras subject, one day I want to sculpt such scene as well I have already a pair of fighting mountain zebra idea for you when you have some time to do them, I was thinking about the same technique Harriet used on the cheetah and having one of them kicking the other with the hind legs as it runs away so each one would stand on it's own with the front feet on the ground and the back legs in the air as it kicks at the other one that is chasing it away.

Fantastic pair of Zebras Phil, congratulations, the tails looks phenomenal, and it adds superior realism to the models, yet, it is a big change from cheap plastic toys, so do not expect everyone to appreciate this, i for one, love the models, love the tails and the fur.

| Great addition to the herd phil, and excellent, dynamic sculptures. I may have already asked you this so forgive me for repeating, but what brand zebra is in the back with his head half down in the grass in this photo?: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Phil, this pair is absolutly fantastic! I like the way they are "dancing"! I also think the tails are great and give a lot of life to the figures. But I'm glad that Silvia or any other member can give their honest opinion. That's the way a modern family should work! |

| These are amazing & I don't think Schleich and others would make somethings like that. Congrats Phil!! _________________ http://www.collectorsquest.com/collector/ken-yeo
