I was hunting for those two models for some time. in good condition, they're expensive, in bad..not.
In some cases, "good condition" may also be a result of an comparable activity,..... Wink
So i tried to rework two specimens which needed some surgery.

I was very careful as my idea was to renovate it, to save the original material and the whole figurine by avoiding repaintings or real rework. Of courc

Obviously, id some decent repainting such as the greyish colour of the Wisent horns or the nails of the elephant.
But i also tried to point the colour of the tusks (unfortunately not obvious in the pics,..) as they're a little yellowish and heterogeneous coloured, pretty much more realistic than pure white.

I do respect the history and the whole appearance of the models, i didn't think of any colouration improval...
Well, until i was wondering if it's wrong to paint such an elephant more like that?:

It is a good thing to save those old and venerable models !

About the repainting, I guess it could be very interesting...

Indeed I repainted an old Marx elephant last year Wink More pics [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

thank you all!
I love the Marxphant!
for the repaint action. the question is: is it okay to "destroy" the original or renovated "original" appearance of a old figurine?

Fantastic restorations! cheers
As for customizing vintages, I say that unless they're OOAK or ridiculously rare, go for it. Unless you count your collection as an investment, and plan to resell, repainting a model can only improve it. Another thing is that many of these oldies have comparatively rough seams and other molding artifacts, and if you want to fix those you basically have a model that is no longer OF anyway.

If this was a mint model, I would probably say Nooooooooooo What a Face Wink Laughing

thank you all. Your comments are both honour and motivation.
And yes, i am very happy with it, as it looks at least more dignified than before and i have a certain respect for such old figurines.

This is a fantastic repair job, I think the new figure is much better then the original Philipp! I have to agree that if it was mint there would be a lot of value in not changing it but you repairs have turned a damaged toy into a beautiful sculpture.

If there is something that amuses me in this hobby is to see a toy that looks really like the real thing! cheers I have a huge problem with the elephants from modern brands, they are made to look cute toys and not real animals, every brands use almost the same formula, chubby and short legs, large head and we have a perfect elephant to the next Disney movie. But I'm not commenting to complain or to tell how competent were Lineol sculptors! I'm here to say that all pieces of art sometimes need some restoring, the world is full of examples of other artists restoring original paintings and giving him his personal and artistic touch. Many of these pieces turned even more valuable and that's what happened here, when you restore a figure that is anymore in a great condition, even if you try to copy the original it is not anymore the same figure, I'm glad you decided to give your impression of realism and the result is superb! cheers Congratulations for your talent! Very Happy

This is an amazing repaint! I love the detailing of the spots! Its unlike the typical unrealistic grey or brown elephants that other brands usually make. Wonderful job! Very Happy

Roger, good points about elephant figures. That's why I really like Safari's Wildlife Wonder's African and Asian elephants! I wish they would consider making a Bull African and Bull Asian for the WW series! Also want to say Safari's Wildlife series 2010' Asian Elephant (Smaller similar version of the WW Asian) and the 2007' Charging African Elephant (Slightly similar to WW African), are nice elephant figures!
Also, Britain's African Elephant bull, cow and calf are excellent!
