some time ago i won an auction on ebay, i paid less than 20 Euro for Tapir, elephant seal, Oryx and Zebra. Ears of Zebra and (one-horned) Oryx were broken and some further damages and scratches were visible. Tapir was scratched. I worked a little on them and here they are with some other (renovated) Lineol figurines. Thanks to Kiki, widukind and ebay I#m pretty happy to have the oryx and a Zebra with very good (original) painted stripes. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I find these projects very interesting! With few money and some talent, you was able of giving the original good look of a great figure. You have not the original collectible but you have a fantastic replica of an animal and that's is also very important. Congratulations for your works!

thank you. It's really big fun for me, even more than repainting modern figurines. That's the idea behind it: there's no need to improve the sculpting, it's brilliant. Whether colouration is realictic or not, saing such a model means to save the original paintwork. If there's nothing like, combined with serious damage (elephant), there's even more you can do Time also changes colours, i love the yellowish white of the zebra. And in the end, you have paid less than one oryx would cost alone. Even better when a lot also contains a figurine which doesn't need an "surgical" treatment (elephant seal).

i didn't find the "before" pic and i noticed how unbelievably ugly the ears of the zebra came out yet, some kind of potato attached. So i reworked it once more and here we go: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Zebras to me are like potatos with strips! It is great to follow your work with these beautiful potatos. This oryx, even with a single horn is terrific but with 2 torturing!

the zebra is great, and I am jealous it came like that with those great original stipes. Mine were faded if not almost gone so I had to repaint.

| I think you did a remarkable job to! Not restored to the original, they do have a kind of modern look, maybe because of the glossy paint. But that does nothing of the work you did, they are fantastic looking models now! (o)): _________________ http://www.collectorsquest.com/collector/1313/willybacoman

thank you. the glossy look is a result of the finish i use to save the paint.

| I think that is completely ok for a restored model, for an old model without damage it would be bad of course(and not neccesary)... _________________ http://www.collectorsquest.com/collector/1313/willybacoman

of course! But: there's only a need for renovation when there's damage and flaking paint unfixed leads to even more loss. so you have to fill and fix damages and to use some finish to protect the rest and the new parts.
