PostSubject: Re: Joan's shelves   Joan's shelves - Page 2 EmptyThu Jan 31, 2013 4:53 pm

Hello friends, as I promised I'm posting photos of my collection updated. The first ones are before a display change I made weeks ago.

first shelf:

- Prototheria and Metatheria
- Lagomorpha, Rodentia and some primates
- Hominidae
- Afrotheria
- Afrotheria, Meridiungulata and Xenarthra

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Second one:

- Insectivora
- Artiodactyla

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Third one:

- Chiroptera
- Peryssodactyla
- Cetacea

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Fourth one:

- Carnivora

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

As I said before I made some (important) changes in the display. I had a lot of non mammal figurines in boxes, so was time to take them off. That's the result:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

First shelf:

- Aquatic mammals
+ Sirenia
+ Cetaceans

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Second one:

- Another aquatic animals:
+ Cnidaria
+ Crustacea
+ Mollusca
+ Fishes

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Third one:

- Birds

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Fourth one:

- Amphibian
- Reptilia
- Own creations :)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I must improve that last shelf because reptilians and amphibians are not well displayed. I must think about that scratch
Now, lots of mammals are sleeping in boxes Sleep Sleep (and also some extinct reptiles)

I use small plastic vessels. First I was looking for small metacrylate cubes, but they were soo expensive Evil or Very Mad

I really love the way you use ranks/orders to display your animals.
It's a fantastic idea (that I think I'm going to steal from you for my future displays). lol!

Maybe an idea for your amphibians and reptiles is to show them from an angle.
Maybe with cardboard or something you can create some kind of slope to display them with?

Like this:

Nice displays as usual Joan Very Happy I agree the amphibians are a problem because they are more "flat" than usual models and the shelves seem "empty" .

Nevertheless those models are fantastic Sad(o)):
