| Since Papo recently made some really nice dogs, I'm thinking of getting a few - they could make some great props for my horses :) The only problem is that I don't know if they are in the right size. So I'm asking the owners of these models below for help - how tall they are (in cm; from ground to top of their heads)? | Well, they seem too big for Collecta Horses but maybe they will be ok with Classic scaled (1:12) horses.
Thanks! _________________ ~Magda (formerly Mangalarga) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Blog | Facebook |

| Magda, Here are a couple pictures with the Schleich Tennessee Walking Horse. They do seem too big. (The Schleich Horses seem to be about the same relative size as the CollectA, but maybe I'm wrong about that.) I don't own a 1:12 horse unfortunately. | That Breyer is Traditional scale (1:9), which is bigger than Classic, so these dogs should look ok with Classics :) That Setter looks marvellous, I think I'll get him next time I'll be buying models on MPV Too bad there aren't enough dogs fitting Schleich/Collecta horses - those few most recent dogs by Schleich is rather small choice. Oh well, maybe I'll make my own one day _________________ ~Magda (formerly Mangalarga) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Blog | Facebook |

| Thanks everyone for posting such wonderful images of dogs and horses.
Pictures with both dogs and horses goes give an indication of scale far better than dimensions.
I wish all manufacturers would state a scale though. Would make the life of a miniature animal figure collector a bit easier!

| In advance I want to apologize if it is to out of topic. I don't have any Papo dogs, but I wanted to check the size compared to Breyer classics. So here is a Schleich german shepherd and Collecta red setter. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Here you are : Comparison between some Papo-dogs and som CollectA-dogs Actually it is quite interesting...both brands have made the usual breeds, but also some quite unusual ones. But they have not made many of the same unusual brands ! So it is a joy to see how well they almost all go together I don't have that many CollectA dog models, but here is what I picked out, - aren't they wonderful ? I felt like the papiest person on earth when I had them all standing on the table in front of me, wagging their tails and having fun together ( Sorry, I got a bit carried away there ) Of course we must start with the gorgeous Bull Terriers : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]English and Irish setter. If the Red, Irish is a male, and the English setter a bitch, their size isn't that bad together, as males are up to 15 cm taller than the bitches [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The collies. They are SO different, - great for variety in a collection [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The golden Retrievers, - again different artists have seen them differently, - I like it a lot [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Two beautyful Alsatians The CollectA one is the latest model. Papo's Alsatian is one of the first dog models they made in 2004, he almost looks antique, but I like his smooth look [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Ups, this photo is a bit out of focus Well, you can see the size Perhaps the CollectA one is the smaller King Charls Spaniel ( English Toy spaniel), and Papo's lovely model is a Cavalier King Charles, which is up to 50 % larger ? | Great great ... Thank you very much for these nice photos Susanne :) The comparison is perfect. I miss some Papo and also Collecta dogs which I like... I hope soon I`ll get them. Like the Collecta Bull Terriers for example....they are lovely. The Papo Greyhound, also I mast have... I have to say, I know that meny people don`t like the Papo Alsatian (german shepherd )....but I love this model. For me it`s very accurate , great model...even so old. :) And still my favorite Alsatian from all major brands... :) Thank you again for the photos :) |

| Susanne, these topics turn always fabulous with your priceless contributions! They show that we can easily mix different brands. - TheSpottedCat wrote:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I wanted to quote you because I agree with Magda that most dogs are made in 1:12 scale, so they work nicely with Breyer classics that share the same scale. The real difference among animals is more dramatic then what we can see in modern brands. New Schleich dogs are in 1:20 scale, while these last fit nicely with Schleich horses, the older ones go very well with these Breyer. Thanks also for picture. |
