| In Munich you can visit the international toy museum of Ivan Steiger. It is in Munich on Marienplatz in a tower with 5 floors. Full of old toys. Many old animals from Lineol, Hausser and other manufacturers. When I saw all the showcases, I was thinking at the beautiful Museum of Christophe and also to the many beautiful photos of Sue and Lesley castlerigg of their old animals. Here are the photos. In one photo you have an open window with a view of the Marienplatz. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]_________ Yvette |

| Very nice pics of a wonderful place Yvette So many old toys... A treasure for the eyes and for heart . Even the Spielzeugmuseum looks like a Princess Castle toy . And the Marienplatz seems wonderful too. I always have a mixed feeling when I see pics of such places, enjoying to see how many wonderful things humankind are able to create all other the world But feeling a bit sad too because I know I would not be able to spend some time to "breathe" them all . About the animals in the displays, it's fun to see how many LINEOL and Pfeiffer are named "ELASTOLIN" . Nevertheless, thank you so much to share this with us. Ooooops, I forget... Yvette, thank you to compare my small cabinet to this huge museum |

| Thank you for posting the pictures, it looks like a wonderful museum. I was able to visit the toy museums in Nürnberg last year but they did not have the nice selection of animals like this. It would be a wonder to see the entire Elastolin Zoo set up with all 50 enclosures one day. Maybe they will do a special show some time. _________________ Tim :) ToyAnimal.info - The Toy Animal Collecting Wiki Animoblog Animobil.info Playmobil Animals

I still need to buy a tower cheers Laughing Christope, that´s the right step in the right direction! Hm, perhaps - If there is no tower free, what´s about a Windmill, or a similar place - certainly there are still many ideas ______ Yvette |

| It's all so... pristine! It's fantastic how they've managed to preserve these oldies in such wonderful condition - considering these were toys, intended for kids - and what a great museum! I think I passed it when I visited Munich, but didn't go inside. - 75senta75 wrote:

Oh no, not a windmill! From what I understand* they're major fire hazards, what with all the flour dust... A tower is much more practical. You get really fit from running up stairs all day, and they're great for imprisoning princesses. * - as an aspiring Evil Overlord I have of course started looking at Evil Headquarters locations... Have narrowed it down to either space station or volcano. _________________ Stuff you should be reading: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |
