| ... I've always thought that Schleich (and CollectA and Papo etc.) figures are toys that are also collector items? O_o;
Is being a toy somehow a bad thing? ó_ò _________________ Krista || zombiebambiraptor.blogspot.com

Yes, I can say that because all our brands make toys, but very often others are far more realistic with some of their products and take their toys much deeper into replica world - Álvaro/schleich wrote:

If they would be the same, there wouldn't be a need for more than one brand My point is this - if you want a cool toy, which mostly resembles on a real animal, but you don't want to search for it for long, preferably just around the corner on a Newspaper stand (because they sell them in a Drug store here, believe it or not), you will definitely be satisfied with Schleich. Of course, this scenario has nothing to do with passionate collectors who gather them for 10-30 years... If you want a good replica, you'll search a bit further... _________________ Robert

I think Schleich's main aim is children or teenagers and collecta's main aim is more people at the age of 16 and above (please notice that 'main' aim doesn't mean 'only') That's why some people are so found of schleich and some not. And please don't make this a 'love it or hate it' topic. This topic is about the new schleichs and not about the whole company line. If you want to discuss which one is better, than there are serval other topics on this forum to choose from. This.....an excellent post. I agree with you I also think this post is excellent, I enjoyed reading it (o)): - Bojan wrote:

I don't know if it it the best sentence because I'm a bit fed up with "the Best something" on STS but I really like what you are saying Phil As far as I'm concern, I'm a Toy animal replica collector. It is not a problem for me to collect toys because I think toys are great things, some of the best things on earth because they are made to enjoy and educate children and can still enjoying old child like some of us here. It is a very positive thing. I don't mind if a model is a SCHLLLIECEI... or a POPA or a NILEON, a TRIBAINS, a TRUSLAX or a FISARA Tld, I like them because they enjoy myself. I also like very much STS forum because it is a place where I can share a lot of good things with a lot of good people all around the world. I think STS is a very positive place and I think we are more clever all together. I think our collector life is far more interesting because of STS than before and I think we have to take care about it... It is precious. I don't collect horses, farm life or pets but I enjoy reading your enthusiastic posts about them. I don't have any BREYERS but I was very pleased we opened a BREYER section because we can share and learn more things. I love friends who are collecting sheep, I enjoy the new trees and dios Phil is making, I like to see some foxes stories from our young members, I like to discover some are collecting planes, Tolkien's item or elves. I also like to know the zoo you are visiting and the weather in the place you are living. Every year I am waiting the day when KIRILL will open a topic saying " What SCHLEICH will make next year ?" But I am sometimes tired. So COLLECTA is better or SCHLEICH is better ? Look at the STS logo, I think you will find the answer. Bongo think new SCHLEICH models are coming from the trashcan ? Well thank you, it is very interesting to know. It is a great contribution ! What else ? it doesn't matter, really... Is the SCHLEICH koala better than the MOJO sloth ? Is the SCHLEICH squirell worse than the COLLECTA Prezwalski horse ? I will probably buy the SCHLEICH standing bear because I love the way it is toyish, I enjoy this toyish pic. I will also buy the COLLECTA Baird's tapir because I think it is a very realistic model. So what is the best ? SCHLEICH toyish bear or COLLECTA realistic tapir ? Peanuts ! I will collect them for different good reasons and I will share it and my thought with you Talk about the things you like, tell us why. Talk about the things you don't like and tell us why. But please, it's time to stop telling " My toys are better than yours" |

| Wow everyone get's so heated every year in the new 'Schleich releases' thread. In my opinion there are really nice models AND really bad models across all brands even CollectA, I wont hide the fact. In some ways I think we should be grateful that we have so many brands to choose from, CollectA, Schleich, Papo, Bully, Mojo, Safari. It allows us to select the models we like across all the brands and gives us choice. I dont remember coming across so much choice and variety back in the 90s when I was a teenager |

| I aggree with Kiki. I enjoy reading what others like and dilsike about all the brands, it helps me to get to know preferences, and teaches me something I may not not have noticed before. I also do not mind calling them toys, I refer to myself as Kiki does, "a toy animal replica collector". I do not feel like any brand is going downhill or is the "the best". Each brand has different things to offer, and specialize in certain areas. This shouldn't be something to get all snappy about, it makes the thread a little less enjoyable to read with all the heated discussions (especially when it seems to just repeat itself over every year). Can't we just get back to discussing the figures? And not the integrity or "betterness" of each of the brands? |

| [quote="schleich61"]As a dedicated Schleich collector, my criticisms of the recent direction of the brand are well-known here. What I find amusing, however, are the polemic rants of Wrongo Bongo... And that is from someone who is very unhappy with Schleich in ret years.[ So where excactly is your prloblem ? I'm only"unhappy" with 2012 and 2013 Schleich models. If you're name yourself a true collector of Schleich, you should know, why... Because I'm, if you call it so, "unhappy" with this two years, it's not emnaing, I will not buy a few of the 2013 models, not all of themin 2013, because the horses, the panther, the kittens, the rabbits, the bears and koalas are unblivable ugly, and I will not give money for such a trash quality. If you like them-pretty for you, but for the future-please don't call me again"Wrongo Bongo", okay ? |
