| Lea's stuff are so well made Mojo isn't my favorite brand but they've made good work with some models. The sun bear looks really good and this wild boar too. I think I can't wait to see all the new ones for 2015 Congrats Anna! _________________ Jonas Animals are my friends. I don't eat my friends. | All sheer beauty Lea makes the most fabulous tack , - it is incredible, all the detail and accuracy in such tiny things I never saw that kind of bridle before, with the strap under the chin, - very unusual |

| Thank you Paige , Jonas , Emma Miguel and Susanne !!! Susanne, oh, I didn't thought about the strap under the chin indeed. I don't know if the ones from the riding club I remember had something like this actually. But still the style of this bridle is very familiar for me _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| Really nice models Anna! I love all of them (well, most of them -- I never did pick up the snowy owl, but I think it's nice). The Sun Bear, the Pangolin, and the Macaque are especially nice. And I was really surprised by how excellent the Wild Boar turned out to be. I don't think there's another one out there (from a different company) I like as much as that Mojo!
I have a question. The custom Thoroughbred Buckskin Mare by Jonas ... what is the original model? (What was it customized from?) (Is that okay to ask?)

I agree whole-heartedly! The Emu is really fabulous. I think I even slightly prefer the Mojo Emu over the CollectA Cassowary. (They are both very nice.) - Ana wrote:

Scott, the thoroughbred is made of one of the schleich models, I think the old Holstein mare: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Yes! I knew I recognized that face. thank you Anna. |

| That is a great surprise from Mojo - and well deserved! The sun bear and boar are especially lifelike I think, and I must concur with the others' praise of the pangolin - it is quite great. I like Jonas' take on the Holstein, too - I think the new neck suits the sculpt well. Good to see the tack arrived safely, too. (Thank you for your comments on it, Susanne, Carola, Jonas and Anna of course!) - SUSANNE wrote:

Here's a bit more information on that, hidden so as not to hijack Anna's thread. - For bridle talk, click here.:
The bridle was made after presentation photos from Soviet shows and stud farms from the 60's - 80's. The chin strap would likely have been superfluous when riding such as in Anna's childhood recollections, but in presentation situations it appears to have been used, particularly on stallions. (The American-style chains over the nose or through/across the gums today more common for halter-presented stallions are not seen in the reference pictures I used.) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Above is a slightly better look at the strap prior to my adding the middle D-ring on it. The strap would have steadied the bit in the animal's mouth (which with the bit guards and large cheekpieces already in use would likely not have come necessary, I grant you); afforded some extra purchase for the handler if needed (two-hand grips on the horse's head were commonly seen in the presentation shots, although usually on the bit rings themselves); and, perhaps most crucially, it would have allowed for the addition of a talutuskarttu between the bridle and lead rope. A talutuskarttu (Finnish for "lead baton" - I'm unaware of a term for it in any other language, but have seen similar equipment in use in historical photographs around the Baltic and Fennoscandian area) is a short wooden truncheon with a rope attachment at both ends. It was sometimes covered with twine and the attachments were braided on; occasionally it was of bare, rounded wood with mere holes at the ends for rings to attach to. It was worn attached to a horse's chin strap at one end and to the lead rope at the other. It could be used to steer away from the handler the head of a "steamrollering" or mouthing/nipping horse, or punch said horse between its jawbones to pointlessly punish it for "misbehaving". On Anna's bridle I crafted the strap suitable for attaching one simply to add a little value to our trade, and to help steady the bridle's otherwise loose-ended cheekpieces.

| Thank you for comments Lea and Robert. Lea, I think your info about this tack is very interesting! Thank you for sharing your knowledge here! Now, today I received two packages. First the lovely, heart warming gift from Karin dear Karin, thank you very much! Some of you may be surprised why you see mini furniture in my collection now. I think I will explain. When we meet with Karin in Utrecht on collectors fair we spend some time looking at miniature furniture that was for sale there. And I said, wow, nice, as a kid I liked miniature things and furniture but hardly could find ANY those times, they were pretty much impossible to find for me. And somehow Karin said she actually have some mini furniture as it was her former hobby too and she can give me few, maybe I will use them in photography now. That was super nice from Karin's side and yes, of course I will use these elements in photos. When she said few things however I didn't expect so many so lovely items And also micro scaled animals among them So, that package made me feel like a kid finding presents under Christmas tree [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] this dice is so small, it just makes me laugh every time I see it [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Some super small animals: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] And more [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] And yet some useful tools in any stable [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] THANK YOU DEAR KARIN!!! These mini accessories are really fantastic!!! And yet, there was another package that arrived here today. My first Traditional size horse. The old type Morgan horse Heritage sculpted by Emilia Kurilla I'm delighted with all the details and the character of this sculpture. I love this type of horses a bit more heavy build than average saddle horse, beautiful shaped neck, lovely head with aware eyes, nostrils and ears. This horse sculpture represents the dream horse for me Don't know what colour to chose for him or what name but even unpainted it looks gorgeous. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Yes, Traditional scale is surprisingly big Arabian mare seems to be especially surprised [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] And, yes, my animals came to play already [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| Thank you Andreas and Susanne!!! Yes, Susanne, it's so nice to see some tiny tiny animals but also the big ones are incredible Hurray for Karin again Susanne, that Morgan is artist edition, cast in resin, I think the same type of resin as our homemade animals It's not from Breyer, although it would be fun if Breyer produced it and then it would be more easily available. This edition, unfortunately, was closed last month. Yes, the old type of Morgan was really beautiful indeed _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection
