| Here are some figures. The old Schleich are from LeeAnn, fantastic oldies I am so glad to add to my collection! So special thank you LeeAnn. Then the wolf pup, bear cub, and meerkats I added a month ago when I visited my sister (didn't have time to post them until now). And I will say, if you do not have the meerkats, get them. Despite their larger size, they are splendidly detailed and accurate. Later today I will post my thoughts on some of the figures as well, but for now here is the photo: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And I also got some great Catalogues from LeeAnn as well, from the years 1998,'99, 2000, '03, '05, '06, '07. If moderators would like, I could try to make scans of the catalogues and post in that section (try mind you), and several of them are in German or French or English. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Thanks LeeAnn. Ok, here are my "reviews": first off, I know the older Schleich figures aren't exactly as realistic as modern animal figures, but I love their charm. The fox reminds me of a corgi, the lynx looks like he popped off the pages of a favorite childhood book of mine, the dog has a face that makes you think that he is such a character. I guess what I mean is that while many modern animals are superior in sculpt for detail, material, and realism, often they aren't capable of pulling off the same kind of personality you can place in a "vintage" Schleich figure, almost like they were alive in their own way. Basically, modernity brings realism in that they fit in with a real landscape so to speak, while these figures bring personality that all animals have individually in real life. Anyways, the chamois was welcome, only the second to my family of them. The "farm dog" met his charcoal brother I've had since I was so small, the poodle was a rare find for me and joined her black sister on my shelves as well. The lamb finished wild piglet is the beginning of the old wild boar family for me, and the lynx will be showing his tricks to the more recent generations from Schleich, safari, and CollectA. And also, the wolf is a new coloration, earlier version than my other variant I've had since childhood as well, and they will be hanging out together on my wolves only shelf. Lastly, the bear cub is the best in my opinion, and he helps props up his tipsy dad. I really like the wolf pup... from its side. It is still the best figure of a wolf pup, but I feel like either his shoulders and head are huge, or his hips are too small. And something about his face strikes me as more feline than canine. But anyways, its still an improvement over Schleich's old one, that to me seemed like a generic "mini me" figure of their other adult wolves. And as I mentioned before, if you do not have the trio of meerkats from Papo, get them. Despite the larger size, they are marvelous. Their is detail right down to the direction of hair striations and cowlicks, and they are so lifelike its crazy. Simply some of the most realistic animal figures in my opinion. Anyways, those are my reviews for those figures. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | How wonderful I agree with every word you write about the old Schleich models. There was certainly a good reason for the popularity . You could always know a Schleich model, - they were irresistable ! Back then I remember when a Schleich poodle with tag brought well over 50 Euros on Ebay, and I had to back out long before that Beautyful Papos too ! I think that when it comes to charm, Papo is IT these days |

| *Firstly, it seems that my photos look really clear on my computer, and as usual photobucket sabotages them so I apologize. I've tried to find a better option etc. but haven't yet, so again its a little blurry.* Got some new figures yesterday from a member we haven't seen in a while. Koniminiatures (also known as Lea) and I have had a trade in the works for quite some time but over the past year we finally were able to complete it. The parcel contained some much wanted figures that many of you are familiar with, but also some stupendous customs she completed for me. So here they are: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Firstly there is a TM cocker spaniel (much bigger than I'd predicted) but a great model. As well as the bullyland fallow deer I plan on adding his CollectA counterpart some day, and a Chocoegg (?) Chihuahua. There is an unknown yellow retriever, primed Schleich retriever puppy, New Ray boston terrier altered to be female instead of male as well in the parcel which someday I will complete myself into finished products. The best part though, are my three customized dogs, the black rough collie, akita, and ovchartka. (I will try to share walkarounds of these fantastic models sometime soon but I have final exams at school so that may be a while), but the attention to detail is astounding and they were all worth waiting for! Also she sent me the altered and primed Papo great dane and newfoundland models that were altered to be "standard" ears for a dane (aka mutilated and standing up) and the other type of ovchartka from the customed papo figure (so now I have a herding variety [fully customized] and mountain/fighting type [black newfie custom]). Anyways, the three models I got customized were a repaint for the collie (I think its a toy major figure if I remember right, correct me please if that is wrong) but it has gorgeous purple and blue hues to its coat when seen in natural light. The akita was customed from the old Schleich husky and has a copper and black patched cream coat. And the ovchartka is a customized bullyland st. Bernard with yellow-tan patches and a blue and brown eye. Again I will post photos of them later on, as well as I have a few other models I haven't photographed yet from other purchases. Anyways, Lea did a fantastic job on these models, you have to see them in person to realize their perfection, and hopefully some day we will see her on the forum again. In the mean time, enjoy! _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Ok, here a few of my other additions from a while ago. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The WW black wolf is a little boring in solid black, but its still a great model and I really enjoy it. Now I just need the WW coyote to go with my wolves. The Mojo doe is a nice model, though to me it looks like a mule deer with such large ears, so I may have to find another model to repaint it (since I really want someone to make a good mule deer model instead of the plentiful whitetails we get), and she is MUCH smaller than her buck. The goose, koala, shar pei puppy, and little mini Triceratops are gifts from friend. The goose is charming, I like the little baby. The koala is the best koala model I have, splendid figure. The shar pei pup looks like he could get lost in his skin folds. And the little triceratops is actually a nice little figure, I may need to collect those little guys too now. And lastly, the little old Safari piglet. I don't really like their pig models (at least the ones I've come across) but that piglet is nice and has a nice expression so I couldn't resist keeping him. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | A beautyful and interesting flock You are right, the ears make the hind look like a mule deer hind , I didn't notice before, - but then we don't have mule deer here That goose, - I always had a weak spot for the model too. It is so well balanced, almost a small sculpture |
