| Subject: What is the difference between the two Spider Monkeys Thu Jul 03, 2014 10:25 am | |
| Hi All,
I have seen that there are two Spider Monkeys from Safari Ltd. 2009 version that ended in 2010 and 2010 version - they have put a 'b' at the end of the new version number.
I was wondering why did they discontinued the 2009 version and made the 2010 version? I am looking for a Spider monkey and as far as I can see - the size is good for scales 1:18 - 1:22, Am I right?
I have found several places with safari Spider monkey but since the Serial is the same I am not sure what they are offering? I do like the NEW one - It looks more realistic then the cartoon version of 2009 - Or both are the same?
Thanks, |

| Thanks Susanne. Are both look the same? - I can not tell exactly from the picture in the link you have sent. I thought that they should look different - I have also found the new version on the site and it looks less Cartoonish then the older version - Or maybe I just wanted it to be that way :) Are they actually the same? One last question - Now that I see them next to a human figure - What scale are they? I thought they were 1:22 to 1:18, No? | Susanne already replied competently to all and I only want to tell you that the Safari spider monkey is quite a large figure for you. As you can see on first picture of this page, it is photographed with an 1:20 scale human figure and if it was standing on 2 legs it would be taller than the human. Really huge! No idea about the scale but probably 1:10 scale. Safari Ltd has two smaller spider monkeys, the Authentics that is cartoonish and harder to find and a much smaller one from their Toobs. This last is another species, cheap production and probably? too small. I think the human here pictured is 1:40 scale. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Thank you very much Susanne and Roger. I do like the monkey they look great - even if they are a bit dusty :)
Roger I would have not think about that myself - Thanks for lighten up my understanding of scale. I almost completely forgot that I should have compare it with the human while it stands on two and not on four.
Yes - now I really see that it is BIG for me - thanks Roger. I think that it should be in the size of the Squirrel Monkey from Sch. No?
Can I get a Spider monkey with 1:18 - 1:22 scale?
Thanks |

Thanks Spider monkeys are much larger than squirrel monkeys. It is impossible to keep a collection in 1:20 scale when you have animals with differences in size as it is a giraffe and a meerkat. In that scale, for a 25 cm giraffe, you need a 15 mm tall meerkat if standing. Though, you can keep a good illusion as it happens with Schleich range. To do it you only need a spider monkey somewhat larger than your Schleich squirrel monkey, maybe the Safari Authentics rain forest habitat squirrel monkey has a good size. Though, it is already retired and it is not as good as Wild Safari version. Below a picture from Miguel with a 1:20 scale human and the Authentics spider monkey. | That's a 2015 figure, I don't know if any of STS members already have it. Though, I am sure someone will show it when possible. |

| Yeah I want some pictures of the jaguar, too. It looks very amazing and the colour seems on the picture more accurate than the one from Schleich. But I also need some comparison photos, cause the jaguar is expensiver than the schleich jaguar, so I must be very sure. |

| Florian, Your post in the Safari catalogue 2015 thread, where you ask for Jaguar pictures is still there. I don't know why you say that it was deleted? (Or did you forget where you posted it?) The Jaguar looks really nice. I think I will get one too. |
