| Some pictures I took of the figures in the Colorata Wild Cats set. I've been selling these figures for awhile on ebay, but as anyone who looks for them on ebay can tell you, everyone always uses the images from the Colorata website. In a moment (ok, a really long moment) of boredom, I decided to spruce up my pictures. But I thought people on this forum would appreciate these more than the average ebay shopper, so I wanted to post them here. Presented in taxanomic order for your viewing pleasure: PANTHERINAEASIATIC LION (Panthera leo persica) - L: 82"-115" Ht: 37"-42" Wt: 240-440lbs Scale: 1:21 - 1:24 Note: one of the biggest differences between Asiatic Lions and African Lions is that Asiatic Lions' manes are not as full, so the ears are visible, whereas the ears of African Lions are hidden under the mane. Also, Asiatic Lions have a fold of skin that runs the length of their belly, but this detail would be difficult to reproduce in a figure so small, and it is hard to make out whether it is present on the figure or not. | Very nice pics (o)): I hope you will make more with other animals, it is really great ! I like also to read the facts you wrote for each animal. Unfortunately, I can't agree with your scales. I don't understand how you calculated them For example, the lion scale is between 1:23 and 1:25 for the height at shoulders, and 1:24 to 1:42 for the length. It means it is a 1:24 to 1:25 scale Asiatic lion. The jaguar could be 1:19 to 1:31 for the length. The height at shoulders is a bit difficult to measure on this model... And the Amur tiger would be 1:25 to 1:44 for the length.

I'm glad you like the pix. I generated my scales from the height at the shoulders typically (except Jaguar, Leopard, Cougar, and Cheetah I think). So, for instance, I found Amur Tiger to be roughly 1.5" high at the shoulder. Then I used height data from either the "Princeton Guide to Carnivores of the World," IUCN Cat Specialist Group, Carnivora, or other reputable source (double checked). The Asiatic Lion was tough because none of my sources had lower end height data for the males, so I substituted lower end height data from African Lions. It is very possible that the minimum height is too low. Figure height was measured to be about 1.75". Every source I have states that Asiatic Lions reach a maximum height of 42", so that's 1:24 scale exactly. I don't remember what I found for the length of the Jaguar figure. I may have measured it wrong or miscopied some of the numbers somewhere along the way. What did you get for the figure length? I'll check my math. I know that these figures gave me a bunch of problems for determining scale, which I usually don't have problems getting. So I'll re-check. Thanks for the heads up :)

| I try to use Height at shoulders and length each time it is possible to determine the scale fork. For the Amur tiger, the length is between 178 to 310cm long for a 7cm long model. |

| I just re-measured the Jaguar using the old "wire & ruler" technique. The figure is almost exactly 4" (10.2cm) long (HBL + tail). So that puts the scale between 1:23.25 - 1:25.75. I always round my scales, generally down to be safe, so I'm revising my listed scale to be 1:23 - 1:25.
Also, checked my stats for the Asiatic Lion. I miss-copied the minimum actual height (31"); it should have been 37". So I've corrected that and corrected the scale. |

The length WITHOUT tail of an adult jaguar is between 1.1m - 1.9m (43in - 75in). The length of the COLORATA WITHOUT tail jaguar is 6,2cm. So the scale is between 1:19 to 1:31. The length of mammals are nearly always without the tail. |

| I love this set and the way you presented with all information and wonderful pictures! Not all sculptings are good but all have movement and great poses. Also the painting is very detailed, unfortunately they are richer in detail than in color choices. These bright yellows doesn't help too much. Species and subspecies choices are excelent too! Generally a fantastic set that I wish to have someday as a cats lover I am. But first there is a penguins set to get! Thanks again for showing with so nice pictures and I hope you please us more with other sets! |

Thanks again for showing with so nice pictures and I hope you please us more with other sets! Thanks Roger. I'm glad you like the pics. I agree, the yellow cats are a bit well represented. I'd love it if they'd do another one of these sets! I'll try to get some more pictures of my other sets and get them posted. It may be a while, but hopefully sooner rather than later. |
