Kikimalou's 2012 MÖJO FUN cape buffalo walkaround

There is already a few topics and pics about this mighty animal replica. I hope you don't mind if I open a new topic to show you some pics of my Cape buffalo  

The African buffalo, or Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer), is a large African bovine. It is not closely related to the slightly larger wild Asian water buffalo. The African buffalo is not the ancestor of domestic cattle, and is only distantly related to other larger bovines. Owing to its unpredictable nature, which makes it highly dangerous to humans, the African buffalo has never been domesticated unlike its Asian counterpart the Water Buffalo.
The African buffalo is a very robust species. Its shoulder height can range from 1 to 1.7 m (3.3 to 5.6 ft) and its head-and-body length can range from 1.7 to 3.4 m (5.6 to 11 ft). It has a long but stocky body (the body length can exceed the Wild water buffalo, which is rather heavier and taller) and short but thickset legs, resulting in a relatively short standing height.
The African buffalo is one of the most successful grazers in Africa. It lives in swamps and floodplains, as well as mopane grasslands and forests of the major mountains of Africa. This buffalo prefers habitat with dense cover, such as reeds and thickets, but can also been found in open woodland. While not particularly demanding with regard to habitat, they require water daily, so depend on perennial sources of water.

This powerful animal have a particular story in the great animal toys history. Nowadays, every major company has its own cape buffalo model and it seems to be a very common toy. But in the past, it was a rarely seen model.
In hollowcast lead, I only know the BLANCHERIE FRERES. LINEOL and TIPPLE-TOPPLE made a composition one. In the 1970's, only STARLUX made one. In the 1990's,SCHLAICH and PV was the only ones...
Now we are a lot to ask for a water buffalo, but in the past the Asian buffalo models were more common than their African cousin.

Well, I love that figure and your pictures give it justice!
That was one of these figures that first impact was very positive and it continues growing. Much more I see that figure much more I like it. A good face is very important and Mojo did it correctly. Fortunately adding a generally great sculpting and elegant pose for such a massive animal. Just look him in the eye!
Together with Papo, my favorites, although I recognize the Mojo's is more accurate and the Papo more spectacular.

The head is really impressive and the pose is very natural, it just needs a few dust around the feet and you are in the savannah

How do you do it ?
I think I have shot 2000 pictures of this lovely guy, but I can`t seem to get black models right

When I make pics of black models, I avoid contrast, so the background is dark and the light is as scattered as possible, no direct sunlight. With this, I'm sure the details in the black parts will be upload by the camera. I use a tripod of course.  

After loading the pics on my computer, I use Lightroom to organize and developp them. The job is to show all the details in the darkest part of the animal without burning the highlights.
I used to make and work on pics for nearly 35 years now    

Of course it is the same for white models !

He looks fantastic. Now all we need is his friend the water buffalo!
