The 2012 MOJÖ FUN Baribal walkaround by kikimalou

The very nice MOJO black bear reached at last my jungle. It seems to love photo sessions  and we wanted to show you a few pics  

The (North) American black bear (Ursus americanus) is a medium-sized bear native to North America. It is the continent's smallest and most common bear species. Black bears are omnivores with their diets varying greatly depending on season and location. They typically live in largely forested areas, but do leave forests in search of food. Sometimes they become attracted to human communities because of the immediate availability of food.

They usually have black coats. In western North America, cinnamon-, blond-, and honey-colored bears occur, while white- and bluish- gray-coated animals are found along Canada's Pacific coast. On some animals, a white blaze punctuates the chest. Dexterous toes and lips and a long tongue enable American black bears to gather berries and insects they dig up after ripping open rotting logs or honey combs with their strong, curved claws.

Although they all live in North America, Baribals are not closely related to brown bears and polar bears; genetic studies reveal that they split from a common ancestor 5.05 million years ago. Both American and Asiatic black bears are considered sister taxa, and are more closely related to each other than to other species of bear.

Black bears are highly dexterous, being capable of opening screw-top jars and manipulating door latches. They also have great physical strength. Even bear cubs have been known to turn over flat-shaped rocks weighing 140 to 147 kg by flipping them over with a single foreleg. They move in a rhythmic, surefooted way and can run at speeds of 40–50 km/h. Black bears have good eyesight, and have been proven experimentally to be able to learn visual discrimination tasks based on color faster than chimpanzees and as fast as dogs.

Black bear weight tends to vary according to age, sex, health, and season. Seasonal variation in weight is very pronounced: in autumn, their pre-den weight tends to be 30% higher than in spring. Black bears on the East Coast tend to be heavier on average than those on the West Coast. Adult males typically weigh between 57–250 kg, while females weigh 33% less at 41–170 kg. Adults have a typical size range of 120–200 cm in length, and 70–105 cm in shoulder height.

According to this data, the MOJÖ FUN Baribal scale is between 1:13 and 1:17.

GORGEOUS bear

He has the typical Mojo-head with the nose a bit too long and sloping down.
The nose could also be more clearly brown, but all in all a lovely model...I LOVE black bears

And wonderful pictures as usual, - thankyou for telling about this interesting species. I did not know they are realted to the Asian bear , or that they can have so many differnet shades
