| Great herd! Strangely, I still keep without a major's common zebra in my collection, I suspect I ate all of them. |

| Thanks Roger and Yvette. I notice a serious quality downgrade when I upload my pics on this forum. Do you have any tip to preserve the quality of my photos ? - Roger wrote:

Better you "ate" them than you "hate" them I am not looking for more zebras from major brands neither (except Grevy's zebra from CollectA), my herd is large enough and there are so many more interesting new species to collect |

I thought it happened everywhere. If you have a certain photo already posted in another forum, you can just copy the code to STS once normally they all use bbcode. In alternative, you can try to houst your pictures on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and let us know if the downgrading is the same. |

| Tell me Roger, how can I make an image housted on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] appear on this forum ? The picture I just posted is housted on noelshack, which is used for a French video game forum. I think the downgrading is less significant but the problem is pictures are often deleted on this website. Thus, I would like to try [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] but I don't manage to post my picture on this forum. | For digital use and to my eyes, I think all 3 are almost the same... The 2nd is too big for a forum. Technically, the first one is better than the 3rd (less compressed). They are both great for the internet though, don't pay too much attention. Glad to see your Zebra herd! |

| Thanks Spacelab ! I am quite used to watching pics carefully since I do photograph wildlife (mostly birds) and I am pretty sure the third one looks better than the first one. I am glad to tell you that you will see a lot more from me in the coming weeks since I am taking advantage of the confinement to photograph my whole collection _________________ Schleich 370 CollectA 76 Papo 61 Safari 24 Yujin 15 Southlands 12 Mojo 14 Maia&Borges 5 Bullyland 1 Recur 1 Homemade 3 Bootleg 1 Total 582

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Bullyland Zèbre repeint This baby zebra was born with spots instead of stripes This unusual zebra was seen in the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, where photographers Rahul Sachdev and Antony Tira, who is also a tour guide, took photos of it. Parmale Lemein, a wildlife specialist at Matira Bush Camp, told the Daily Nation that this was the first case of this type of a pea zebra in the Mara reserve. It is very likely that the baby zebra has melanism, which is the opposite of albinism. However, there was sad news: no similar zebra has survived in the past six months with such a condition in African parks. Now he will be immortalized in my painted collection this morning TARA is still doing well |

| Something really unusual and a nice tribute to Tara. It is not accidental that zebras have strips but if ever in certain special conditions a spotted zebra has advantage, this rare condition will help to the survival of the species. |

| Here's all the striped members of my herd... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The older Schleich one, which I still like for cuteness and nostalgia reasons even though they replaced it with a better one later! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And the matching old Schleich foal [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The next Schleich zebra mare [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The matching Schleich male zebra [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And their adorable baby Back when these were released, I was working in a shop in town, and just round the corner was a model shop which sold Schleich and art supplies. I'd nip out on my lunch break to buy thing there, mostly horses to repaint or the paints to do them with, and come back to hide them in my locker til hometime. One day, the shop hadn't got any paper bags, so I had to carry a zebra in hand, and my boss saw it. Rather than asking the usual expected embarrassing questions about why an adult would want a plastic toy, she thought it was really nice, and sent me back to get another one for her granddaughter. The next week, I bought the male zebra. My boss asked if I could fetch her one of those as well. And when I was going back for the baby, I asked if she'd like one of those too So for several weeks, I was back and forth to the shop, carrying zebras around town. My boss thought collecting models was a cool and creative hobby, not weird or silly at all, and even gave me a voucher for the shop for my birthday that year - I chose final zebra from the range at the time, the grazing mould : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Schleich have done another female and bay zebra pair since these, but I don't like them as much as the previous set, so I'm torn whether to buy them anyway to keep the herd complete (and more zebras can't be a bad thing, even if they do have dodgy hocks ), or stick with the ones I'm happy with and have a funny memory attached to! On to the next brand! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]CollectA adult [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]CollectA baby [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And new to me this week, CollectA's grévy's zebra Mojo have made three different zebras, but according to what I've read on here, the most recent are the best, so I'm not too worried about tracking down the older releases [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Mojo 2020 zebra mare [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Mojo 2020 zebra foal And finally, something really different, aiming for cuteness and collectability rather than perfect realism : zebras made by Julip Originals, one of the oldest toy horse brands in the UK. Julips are hand made from latex, with hair manes and wired legs, and each one's slightly different. They're not really anatomically accurate as zebras, being based on horse or pony sculpts, but made a fun and unusual addition to the range, which you could buy as a special edition painted to order, back in the mid 2000s. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Humbug, one of the very first zebras made [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Mrs Zeb, ordered later in the year - she came with more stripes so I think they'd had practise by then and got more confident [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Minty, their baby, ordered at the same time as her mum |
