Seven lovely composition models :-)

A couple of weeks ago I won 7 nice composition models on the Danish net-auction "QXL".
The seller wrote they were Lineols, but only the seal has the LINEOL-mark.
Can anybody tell me something about them, perhaps ?   

I didn`t pay much for them, so I am happy no matter what brand:D 
But as time went by, and my payment must have received the apyment long ago, I began getting nervous, - was there a good reason why nobody else had been interested ?  

But this morning they arrived, securely packed and with a nice greeting and excuses for the late shipment

The lovely, little seal is clearly marked LINEOL

Polar bear and her cub ! They have no marks at all :

My other polar bear, he looks like he is made from plaster, or perhaps he is a composition-moldel ? Does anybodu know ?

The most gorgeous grizzly  
He has no brand mark.

A beautyful lion male.

He has metal in the legs, and the tail is made from metal :

wonderful hippo ! His teeth are made from metal , - his name must be JAWS, like the villain i the Bond-film    
He is marked GERMANY in a square indention, like Lineol-marks are.

The cutest, little camel  
He, too has metal in the legs, you can see it under his feet, but I just couldn`t make a photo

With my dromedary, which is somewhat larger and also has no mark

Ha, they are very beautiful and in great condition! Lucky you that found them for a good price!
I'll let it to experts but hippo is clearly a Lineol to me and I am almost sure about the polar bear adulte. Though, I can be easily wrong here because I am not enough knowledgeable about them.
Whatever they are, they're fantastic!

Wonderful, hippo, all bears and camel are Lineols 100%, I'm not sure only about the lion

I can say with absolute certainty that they are all beautiful. :)

Very nice models, I did some research and apparently the Lineol models were based on real animals at Berlin Zoo.  This probably explains why these old models are so accurate and well proportioned.

Your hippo is modeled after "Knautschke" born 1943-1988 at Berlin.

Do you know how old they are, - I suppose "late" is relative, when it comes to LINEOL ?

For sure younger than 1938, before that time non of these models were in Lineol catalog

Congratulations Susanne, they are beautiful!! I love the hippo, super finds

"Late" in the sense "after the last big war and just before the end of
composition-production".  You will find them all in the 1958 catalogue.

Some Lineol animals are marked LINEOL, some are marked GERMANY, and many of them are not marked at all. If you are unsure about a composition beast, just ask us!

By the way, if your other Polar Bear is made of plaster, he looks like a cast from Hausser's Elastolin Polar Bear.
Your fine Arabian Camel is Hausser's Elastolin ..... most of the old sculptors were good at camels because they had made them for Nativity sets before they were asked to make zoo animals...

Wow, these are gorgeous Susanne! What a fantastic haul! They are all wonderful, but I especially love the Grizzly and the Hippo. They are both fabulous sculpts. Congratulations!!
