| As a "Thank You" to Harriet I decided to make her an oak tree, she had mentioned to me once that oaks are among her favorite trees, so I decided to make her a full scale model of one of the white oaks that are common near my home in California. After telling her of the plan she mentioned that the size would be a problem so we agreed on a much smaller scale and here is the result. It is about 10 inches tall and almost 12 inches wide at it's widest point, I added a large knot hole as well as a large broken stub to give it character. Here are the photos I took of the tree. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I also started a 38 inch tall (almost 70 ft tall in life) magnolia tree. I'm still making the flowers, when I'm done it will have 125 flowers on it! It has taken over 7 months to get to this point but I have not always been able to work on it because of my health. I love this tree, it is so hard to show it in the pictures, the size and beauty just get lost in the photo, but still you get the idea when you see it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I am also making a series of shadow boxes, small mini scenes in 1:22 to show off individual figures, this first one is a tropical forest, I'm still not sure what I'm going to display but I was making different palm trees and the idea came to me so I started with what I had made. I could always change the plants, the rock work and ground cover will be glued down but the palms and any larger plants like the papaya on the left are not, they free stand so they can be moved or removed if I want to change them around. Here are a few different views, this is still a work in progress. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Finally a nursery near my home in Sacramento asked me to make a Bismarck palm so I made my first draft. The fronds need to be shaped and the trunk is a little thick but I'm going to have some of the palm fronds cut a little bigger and that will make the trunk more in line with the correct scale and size. Once that is done I will shape the fronds and other then that I'm pretty happy with it as my first try, the next one will be a lot better! The next photos are the palm, first a live one growing near my house in Florida, the next the model. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Those are precious and wonderful works! They're all beautiful and I love to watch them against a dark background, the oak has a magic branches flutuation like it was dancing in a graceful way. It will surely be fantastic to see the flowered magnolia and it shows how patient and dedicated you are with your hobby. I hope your health contributes as much as possible with your strong nature of replicating Nature. |

| Thanks everyone, I'm very glad you all like the new trees.
Andreas, I now make 33 different species of palms, though some are just variation between the color of the fronds like the two species of Washingtonia fan palms, California fan and Mexican blue fan palm are identicle except for the bluish color of the Mexican species. |
