I have wanted to make a magnolia tree ever since I started learning how to model trees but I didn't think I had the material to do the leaves correctly or the skill to make the leaves from scratch. I found a compromise, I am using a preserved foliage with big 4 petal leaf that I cut individually (yes INDIVIDUALLY) into the shape and size I wanted and it came out pretty good even if it did take the better part of last year to finish the cutting. I had the woman who cuts my palm fronds design a laser cut magnolia flower which came in last week and here is the results... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I am thinking of selling them and some of the pines if there is any interest let me know, otherwise look for them on eBay, I have had pretty good success with all of the typical outdoor trees I list and some of the tropical ones sell here or there but not as much interest in those, I guess there are not many dollhouse or miniature collectors into tropical scenes!

Great scale model Phil, really like the intricate details and obvious time consuming effort put into this.

Phil, it is gorgeous. My favorite tree of all time. If you do decide to make another one, it will have a very, very happy home here. That is one that I would love to try to attempt to make, but haven't tried yet. I look and look for the perfect leaves for one, but can't ever seem to find any locally that would work. Your turned out amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Hello fellow tree maker. I really admire your work its very detailed and real. I need some advice. On making leafs on trees that can with stand two six year old humans I'm currently using random plastic plants. Any hints or tips?
